drivers side cubby thingy

Hi,

Looking at changing my 9 yr old 335d f31. I'm after a G21 m340d, with a towbar.

I've been looking at used/demo and also new and it seems that the drop down cubby storage thingy is gone. Is this gone for good?

I've seen some retro fit on the F30 range, I presume the same can be done on newer ones but likely only without the coloured lower dash.
I know it's a small thing but I use this a lot.

Is part of the extended storage on Comfort pack. Seems was deleted or unavailable on later pre LCI face-lift models?

It is very handy to have. I had my car three years before I realised it was quite deep into the dash and not just a little drop down tray for coins etc!

I was expecting it to have been deleted on my 2022 G32 coupe which I specced with full merino interior and lo and behold it was actually there!
Was so pleased to see it had been retained on my build as I find it so useful having had it on previous cars.
I must be getting old .... it's the little things that please me these days!

To me it's an extra that shows the greed of BMW. Never have I come across it being an option before. Utterly pathetic. A bit like BMW now charging some for having things like heated seats.

I don't care about badges, and when it comes to my next car in (hopefully) a few years time, if this sort of nonsense is going on, I'll go elsewhere to a marque that doesn't do it.

I tend to agree with you Charlie. Over the recent years BMW have become more stingey when it comes to the little touches we took for granted. I think like many manufacturers they milked the component shortage angle as much as possible yet never adjusted their pricing structure.
The only upside is they are not anywhere near as bad as Porsche, my mate’s just ordered a new 911 and I was staggered at the price they charge for absurd extras like you would expect to be standard!

They started deleting the cubby hole during the chip shortage, when loads of electronic things were being deleted. And yes, that's just pure greed because the cubby hole is just about the least electronic thing on the whole car.

Yes, I was sorely dissapointed it wasn't there on my July 2021 build G21, with Comfort pack...!

But, people saying BMW stingy. Nothing new there! Don't forget, in the 90's you'd have to pay for things like heated washer jets or mirrors (separately), there were 3 levels of board computer, all paid for, armrests were extra, mirror sunviors... etc. etc.

In line with Mercedes at the time, where you paid for the car and everything was extra even on the top engined cars.
