G21 open tailgate window via keyfob
Hi all,
Saw a review that said you could program the diamond button on the keyfob to open the tailgate window. Checked my car with the 2020/07 software and it’s not an option. Seems that its possible in the manual but maybe not in UK. Has anyone got this option or enabled via coding? |

Yeah I too was looking for that on my new G21 as my old 520 had it. Also hugely irritated that this 50k car doesn’t have the same motorised rear parcel shelf that I’m used to. Funny how the little things get under your skin!

You can open/close the tailgate using the key fob of the G21, but not the glass window, that is manually operated only.

The manual says otherwise which makes me think it could be enabled via coding:

I think you might be looking at an old/outdated version of the manual, or it's in fact a UK thing. This is what I see in the latest version of the manual:

My Drivers Guide app says that it can control the rear window? Not sure on the benefit if it just releases the lock as comfort access does that when you touch it anyway?

Given that, unlike the whole tailgate, the glass itself does not have a motorised closing/opening feature I’m still struggling to see the point of just unlatching from the fob.

At the moment, that diamond button is useless. I would never need to turn the car lights on independently of unlocking and getting the car lights to turn on. If I could choose the function, I would probably choose for it to turn on the air circulation or fully open the sunroof. |

Resurrecting this thread after a brief search of the problem I'm getting with my tailgate glass.
I have comfort access set to open doors when touching the handle - which works fine . My problem is intermittent (of course !) If I walk round the back of the car the tailgate glass opens with no contact .It can also happen with the foot waggle or pressing the tailgate open button popping the glass open. Might have to shut it twice before it stays shut . Looks like a dealer visit where they find nothing wrong . |

Useful thread, 2yrs on I still hadn't cottoned on to the fact that 4th button on the fob can be configured. What with Comfort access I never even look at the key, just carry it in coat / trousers.
