Definitely not new to BMW's or cars in general. Every time i step into the garage the car performs a wake up procedure - i can hear what sounds like relays opening and closing, and the light on the shifter turns on. It occurs when the vehicle senses light from inside the house or garage door opener light turns on. The key FOB is far away from the vehicle, vehicle is locked and all latches are closed.

This has been happening since day 1 but just now inquiring.

Any clue what is going on? Seems like it's draining the battery unnecessarily.

Have you had a dead battery from this? think it is very minimal and unlikely to contribute to anything

Replace battery message popped up. The car sat in the garage all winter but it was connected to a bmw battery tender
