Saw the Remote Start option thread and checked my account.

It showed in my account on Connected drive portal as well -- will give it a shot since radar detectors are illegal here & report back

Added it successfully to my car. First Drive Recorder becomes available. Then OTA updates start working. And now this. BMW is starting to give me hope with iDrive 7!

Also my credit card processed fine on the Connected Drive site. I do have a MasterCard on file FWIW.

At least this is one feature you guys in the US will have that Europe won't! I'm super jealous.

The German car companies all agreed not to add this sort of thing to European cars inc the UK because camera detectors are illegal in many European countries like France, even though it's fine in the UK

Nice I guess but those cameras only catch running red lights which I don't think is a major issue here. But speed trap cameras would be interesting and actually useful.

I tried to purchase the free Drive Recorder 1-month trial this morning and the credit card page was broken. When I saved the card, it didn't give me an error, it just brought me back to a blank credit card page.

Gone for me too. Seems that a lot is going on at this time on their backend with the new software coming.

Yeah, the new iOS Connected App is out to support it. So I'm sure there will be a lot of changes in the next few days. It also means the RSU should be arriving soon as well.

Doesn't seem to be available for Canada?
I emailed Connected Drive and this is the response I received:
"We do not have any official communications regarding this feature being
available in Canada at this time."

Hi,

Well, I now have Traffic Camera assistant operating in my car and after several days of use, I must say, using an old Baseball phrase, it's a long run for a short slide!

To start with, it has only given me warning on three occasions of traffic light cameras, yet I know I have driven by well over 2 dozen (they're easy to spot being on a pole above the light). Addionally, even though I select HUD to display these warnings, they show up on the instrument cluster-- turns, when the warning is activated, it CHANGES the display option from HUD to instrument panel !?!

Wonder what else it does?

I find that it works pretty good so far. On my first day of use it alerted me to mutiple MRCD (red-light and speed cameras) here in NYC before my Uniden R3 alerted. I didn't compare it to Waze alerts yet...

The speed cameras and red light cameras are the same here in NYC, they're just multifaceted..

Does it operate differently in other US states?

I know them as two completely different things but guess in a city like NY it makes sense to combine them.

Outside the city just red light camera warning would be pretty useless. Speed cameras on highways and roads on the other hand......

How does this actually work? I am not seeing notifications in my hud or instrument panel. Are there any other settings in any menu other than the app page which is an enable/disable? Does it require nav to be active for notifications?

I just installed this morning, then went for a drive. I got 2 warnings in the HUD, but both were nowhere near an intersection.
