Retrofit DAB Radio
Hi,
Has anybody already tried out to retrofit the DAB in his car? As far as I understood the RAM should already be able to receive DAB. What is needed is a DAB antenna and some codings in the RAM/MGU HeadUnit with esys. Best! |

The Diversity antenna amplifier is different, you can check using part number.
The DAB aerials are mounted in different locations. The part might have been created with or without those additional aerials if the vehicle didnt get the DAB option from factory. It looks like only the rear window aerial are shown only on the technical information documents. The DAB band III aerial and TV aerial are mounted on the Side window aerial. DAB L band aerial in the European version or SDARS aerial in the US version is mounted in the roof shark fin. DAB band III aerial is mounted in the Rear window. |

I was searching to do DAB retrofit on mine to.
By BMW schematic and ETK I saw we need to add/change those things: RAM with DAB option they are different by sound system, for base audio is RAM basic, for HiFi is RAM mid, for HK and B&W is RAM high. Here are product numbers for RAM high with DAB: 65125A4CE53 65125A4CE55 Also we need to change: -Antenna amplifier, product no.: 65206835148 -Trap circuit.: 65206835153 Cables: -RAM-Trap: 61118718738 -RAM-Antenna amp: 61118718742 and maybe cable from MGU to Antenna amp: 61118718740. I am not sure if I buy used RAM, can I code it with my VIN? Will my OTA updates still work for my car? |
