Hi guys,
After the last cleaning of the garage I found something I had forgotten.
The original M sport brakes (brand new) from my car which got the M performance brake system from the first day.
If there is someone with a car with basic brakes, this is a good upgrade. all you need is a set of rotors and rear pads.

Price 1700 usd / 1500 eur for the setup.
Based in EU.

I had my BMW parts dept. order the various order numbers for the front rotors and calipers.

I have my Blue M performance brakes that come on the stock M340 are available - if anyone wants them! (less than 500 mi on them, perfect cond.)

PM me if interested

What was the part number for the upgraded rotors and calipers

Would anyone know if the side profile of the brakes differ in size? As in does the M performance calipers poke more towards the wheels than the normal M sport Calipers?

The 374mm and 395mm caliper bodies use the same pistons, but the caliper itself is larger yes.

You aren't likely to have any wheel clearance issues, given 374mm is a dealer fit accessory caliper for G2x cars.

For regular m340i brakes, is it possible to upgrade just the front calipers and rotors to the 374mm set? Brake balance issues?

Part number for just the 374mm front rotors/calipers?

Thanks!

Yes the G2x M Performance rear brakes are not an upgrade in anyway shape or form. Simply 345mm rear calipers painted red.

And the rotors would not match the front (slotted + dimpled).

Easily fixed by sourcing 374mm front calipers only and either a) pairing them with blank 374mm discs to match the existing blank rears or b) swapping out all 4 corners to the dimpled / slotted discs.

The front M Performance calipers look to be only ~$500 each new. That's not bad at all. I was originally planning on getting some GiroDiscs for my front only, but I wonder if getting the M Performance fronts only would be worth it. Unfortunately GiroDisc doesn't seem to make a 374x36mm 2 piece rotors, but Paragon does. Or could just go with the slotted/dimpled M Performance rotors, though FCP Euro doesn't seem to stock. With that said, it's "recommended" to have the ABS/DSC unit to be programmed to account for the larger fronts. This would be for track duty and I'm trying to get temperatures down.

Decisions, decisions...

Also worth noting that I’ve never seen anyone with the upgraded M Big brake kit track there car and give feedback as to whether or not they tangibly lower temps.

Also need to do some sleuthing on pad availability. I think ours have such a wide offering since we share with the Supra; not sure if M Performance will be so lucky. After initially posting this, I did see that Turner/ECS carry the slotted/dimpled for $1,000, and they have a replacement program like FCP Euro.

Whatever I do, rear brakes are staying as is with the blank rotors.

Correct. Most folks who go from M-Sport to M-Performance can't justify the cost of the kit since the rears are the same (although you are getting the slotted/dimpled rotors).

Piecing together just the fronts is expensive too. The best bang-for-buck is going from standard to M-Performance, although that is not most people's situation.

I was at Road America this weekend and talked to a BMW Center instructor. They run the ZTK package on a lot of their cars and he said it works perfectly with one caveat, they only get up to about 80 mph.

He said if I want to be extra careful I can upgrade the pads. Otherwise he thinks it will be fine.
