Suspension Ideas & Upgrades
I am finally looking to upgrade my suspension on the 2020 M340i. Upon researching, I see the 9000-year-long debate is KW vs. Bilstein vs Ohlins.
Personally, I am leaning towards the Bilstein Evo T1 Suspension Kit. RockAuto has it priced at $2,031.24 (incl. tax & Shipping) FCP has it priced at $2,542.59 (incl. tax & Shipping) ECS has it priced at $2,538.46 (incl. tax & Shipping) FCP has lifetime warranty even on wear and tear items. Is this really legit? Like the struts need to be replaced due to normal longevity wearing it out? ECS now has the same lifetime warranty but I don't believe wear n tear is covered. With this type of coilover setup I was thinking about getting the Dinan Dinan Supplemental Ride Quality & Handling Kit. Can the Dinan bump stops be installed with this type of coil over kit? Last supporting mod that I am replacing is the Dinan Tension Strut Ball Joint Kit. How will the overall ride feel with the monoball kit installed? Currently both thrust arms bushings are cracked and leaking. I drive my car hard and do autocross and don't want to keep replacing the bushings at a fast frequency. My idea was to add some extra miles to the overall longevity of the bushings. Thoughts, ideas, comments, suggestions? Oh! also my car is not equipped with adaptive suspension. I decoded the vin and this is what came out. I don't see adaptive. FCP and ECS/Turner "lifetime" replacement gives you store credit, not cash, so you effectively have to buy it, replace it once (paying again, ship the old unit back at your cost, get store credit for future replacement), and on the second replacement you reap the benefits. Highly unlikely you'll ever need to do that for a coilover. It's not worth it for parts that aren't maintenance items IMO. Bimmerworld is priced between ECS/Turner and RockAuto; good people too.

Choosing a coil over ultimately depends on what your handling goals are. If tracking, the best off the shelf coil over would be the Ohlins R/T. If you’re just wanting a more compliant daily driver, then the KW V3’s would be more suitable since they have a longer durability claim, as an example.
Dinan monoballs are great. Highly recommend. Do it.

I was torn between KW V3 and Ohlins. What made me decide to go with Ohlins (haven’t purchased yet) was that the minimum drop height wasn’t as much as the KWs. I don’t want to be too low so I’ll be doing Ohlins.
The KW V3s have a longer rebuild interval, which is nice. I believe it’s about double the mileage of the Ohlins.
