Has anyone put a JB4 on a 330i yet? If so, how much can you feel the gains and is it worth it? How tough is the installation process? I am mostly looking to install a JB4 over BM3 bc my car is a lease and I've already heard a few nightmares w BM3 on G20s. Also, how safe would it be to install a JB4? Would I need to remove it before every dealer visit or would I be fine? Anything helps! (Also debating whether I should just get racechip)

JB4 can be installed on the 330i though I can’t seem to find anyone who has it on the g20 330i.
Install doesn’t look too bad. The toughest part will probably be routing of the cable but it can be done comparatively easily. If you don’t want to poke through the firewall, you can do an easy install and route it through the door jamb into the hood. I checked it out last week and saw that that could be done too. Obviously you’ll need the cable or Bluetooth too since, if you don’t get those, it will be set to map 1 which is only minutely better than a JB+. For the other maps, you’ll need a computer or your phone. I’m holding back since a JB4 plus Bluetooth comes to around $670 which is a little much for me. Ofcourse I can send the JB+ back to them and they’ll take $200 off but I’ll wait for a few months to see if any new g20s are flashed with BM3. I’d love to get a tune but yeah.

JB4 on G20 330i?
Oh damn 670 plus Bluetooth? With the wired connection it'll be around 565. Do I need the wired connection in order to switch maps or is the wired connection just for logging? I don't understand why I'd pay 140 more for Bluetooth if I can just pay 35 for wired. I'm super confused lol. What does the wire even connect to and where can I see the logs if I do buy the wired connection? Also I know that you've owned a race chip. You think i should just go for a race chip? The only thing that is deterring me from a race chip is that it's only for my 330i and when I upgrade to the m340 late next year, I can't transfer my racechip to the m340 while I can just switch my JB4 to my m340 which is pretty nice.

I was happy with the racechip in my A4. But I’m also happy with the JB+ on the 330i. I had the RC ultimate connect and they said I can use it with another car if I pay them for a new harness for the new car and they’ll also send maps for the new car. But I sold it to another person with a B9 A4 and got JB+ instead. I went with JB+ since bms mainly works on BMWs and they have good experience with the b48/58 engines. Regarding where the wire is connected. There’s a pdf on their website which shows where to connect the wire. There’s even a YouTube video by Terry I believe showing the process.

And yes. There’s definitely a difference. JB+ kinda feels like map 1 of the jb4 (not my words. Words of someone else who did a JB4 upgrade from JB+ on their f30 330i). And JB+ isn’t unsafe per se. Lots of cars running JB+ without any issues. But I’ve read about lots of cars being tuned and having issues. So yes.

And the Jb4 won’t be that much of a hassle if you install it the easy way. Probably five minutes to take it off and put it back on compared to 30s with the JB+. BM3 doesn’t have a map for the M340i yet. They might have one soon enough.

How bad was the install? Did you bring the obd cable in through the firewall?

JB4 would work yes, it works by intercepting the boost signals from the sensor to the ECU, the ECU will "crank up the boost" (keep the wastegate closed for longer) in response. It doesn't matter what version ECU/DME software you have
