Wheel fitment

Hi All,

I currently lease a 2018 530e. The lease expires in October and I have ordered a 2022 M440i cab to replace it. Both cars have 19" wheels but I purchased a set of 18" winter tires for the 530e. I am trying to determine if the same wheels can be used on the M440i cab.

The specs for the 530e suggest the OEM rim is 8X18 ET30, 5X112 PCD, 66.6mm bore. The invoice from the place I purchased the winter tire package says the rims I bought are 8X18 +35, 5X112, 66.6 mm.

The specs for the M440i suggest the OEM 18" rims are 7.5X18 ET25, 5X112, 66.6mm.

I am not really sure what the ET25, 30, 35 numbers mean. I know the bolt patterns and bore are the same. Does anybody know if my 18" winter rims and tires from the 2018 530e will fit on the 2022 M440i?

Thanks in advance.

Plug your numbers in on this calculator but you also need to have your tire sizes.

ET defines the distance from the mounting surface to the wheel centre in [mm].
Your ET35 will have its centre 10mm further in than ET25. This difference (with opposite sign times 2) change the track width.
Add (subtract really) half the difference in rim width [inch] to get the difference in where the outer side of the rim will be.
Or add (subtract really) half the difference in tire width [mm] to get the approximate difference in where the outer side of the tire will be.
Consider changes in clearance on the inside in the same way.
One more thing to consider is the clearance of the brakes (which also depends on the design of the rims).

Thanks G22b58.

After checking the calculator and reading your post I have decided to get new winter tires and wheels. It is not clear to me whether the existing wheels I have will fit without issues and I'd rather err on the side of caution.
