The blue lights inside the laser headlight never seem to turn on

Hi Guys,

This is to anyone who may have the Laser light package. The blue hue light looks amazing but it doesn't seem to ever be on. Is it just a blue painted part of the light or does it actually work for something ??

Seems like the New X6 and X5 has it active but im not sure.

I have a g20 Msport 330 with laser package. Just wondering if im missing something here

From what I have read on here they are different depending on what country.

In the U.K. when I have sidelights on you can see the blue light.

I know in the US they don’t light up blue due to US law. I do have an European one and when I unlock the car at night I do see a blue hue.

Interesting, do you know the reason why and if there is possible to code it to work in USA for NA cars

In North America blue lighting in the front is only allowed for police or emergency vehicles. I don't think it can be coded as I don't believe there's even an LED on the North American spec lights to illuminate the blue part.

My X5 has the blue paint on a portion of the headlights, but they don't actually light up blue as they do in other parts of the world. So you can see it during the daytime when only the daytime running lights are on, but once the full headlights are on at night you can't see it. Again, has to do with US laws.

Yup pretty much. You do get upgraded daytime running lights though as part of the package, so there's that at least.

Your not allowed blue lights on the front in the U.K. so don't know how they manage it, I'm just waiting to get pulled lol

Mine are definitely a blue light though and not painted.

Funny...I have a "refreshed" AMG C43 with multi-beam LED headlights and they have very cool blue filaments that light up blue...but I guess they are legal as you see them from the side...but not head on....

Thats beautiful. I see where mine is painted, yours also are. So in theory there may indeed still be active lights back there that we cant see that will be turned on at some point in the future. It would be more costly for bmw to make separate lights without them so I have faith lol.

That's pretty much why I was happy to get the laser lights (the extended drl looked better to me).

It's just ambient lighting detail for the headlamps - there's really no functionality to them besides design.
Also it's more white on the X5 with Laserlight option - here's a couple shots of mine with low beams off and on.

This cannot be coded to US headlights as it is a hardware difference. See the two pictures below, RoW has a blue light, the US one has white. Both have blue plastic that doesn't illuminate though.
