How long does it take to update the maps from the usb stick? Do you have to do it in one session while driving the car or can it be done over a couple of shorter trips?

I haven't done it yet, but if I remember correctly from my previous BMW, you have to do it with the car parked. It doesn't take so long, I think about 15 mins. if I'm not mistaken.

EDIT: 20 mins. exact.

We're discussing two things: 1) OTA iDrive update 11.2019, which I installed today. 2) Map update 2019-4, which I installed using a USB stick.

If I'm not mistaken, it was the 7.2019. I'm not completely sure because I just got the car yesterday and I updated it as soon as I saw the update available.

In the app, Android. The same description appeared on the screen before I updated, it seems this is just a minor release.

Interesting. My car has software version 07/2019.70. I just checked and got no software update available -- both on Connected App and in car.

Either BMW has gotten selective or it's not available in US or I'm missing something?

OTA iDrive 7 updates are not available yet in the US. Folks on this forum and on the X5 forum are getting 11/2019.xx installed via dealers; supposedly, it fixes lots of the iDrive 7 issues such as Remote 3D View not working.

Just for the record, for the folks that connect using their mobile phones and don't see the flags. I'm actually in Norway, not in the US.

Here I don't get OTA map updates, but I did get the iDrive one.

Good point! I am using the mobile app as well, and cannot see where people are located.

Very interesting that you all get OTA iDrive updates but not map ones and we get the opposite! My 2020 330i just got the Texas 2019-4 map update pushed to it last week!

I picked up my car this evening after taking it to get 11/2019 installed. ConnectedDrive has stopped working on my car a week ago with 07/2019.xx. Everything now works again, including Remote 3D view! I'm running 11/2019.40 now.

Where in the app do you find the remote 3d view? I don't see that option, though I'm running the latest version on Android. Is it a US-only feature? Is it available in Europe as well?
