It’s a complete farce. First and last BMW. I never, ever had any issues like this with Audi
Are your apps and Spotify showing now ?

Got mine updated on 9th March, the stupid service advisor informed me when I took back my car that connected services will take up-to 24h to reactivate. Till today no connected music and no apps !!!

I phoned the chimps of the connected-Drive, useless as usual they just Informed me that Munich is aware about the issue and they are investigating it. So no visibility on when the issue would be solved !!!

PS: For the bimmers who received the 07.2019 OTA on December but didn't manage to install it (disappeared after 2 days), do not wait as this update was corrupted and blocked the OTA capability of the vehicles, therefore you have to visit the dealer for the physical update.

Nope, nothing. It’s going back to dealer in two weeks, but if it’s a server problem, seems pretty pointless

Getting my update today. My SA put a post-it note on the seat and mirror stating not to change the seat settings. Sometimes, he said the seat changes by itself after an update. Let’s see.

He also claimed BMW’s position on lack of OTA update availability is to blame apple for constantly changing their interface whatever that means.

Sounds like BMW trying to shake off blame.

Correct.

Why does Apple "changing" CarPlay (which has barely changed, if at all, since iOS 13 was released in the fall) have anything to do BMW's inability to institute OTA updates? Especially when CarPlay is available in other countries where iDrive OTA updates are now available.

Or an individual SA trying to brush off an uncomfortable question. I really hope BMW is not saying that in any official capacity.

Quick update- updated to 03/2020.24. Seat memory was erased. Oddly enough, all I drive settings, shortcut buttons, nav system info, etc. is untouched.

Apps/widgets are all gone. Other than that - virtually can’t tell any difference with this update. Everything looks exactly the same.(I’m coming from 03/2019)

I’m more perplexed that my all season run flats are already 50% worn with 10k miles.

I assumed the iDrive would be completely reset. Did you have any coding done on your car prior to it going in for the update? If so, did those get erased or are those preserved?

And RFTs are notorious for the rate at which they chew through the tread. Unless you were babying you’re car, I’m not surprised Mine are at 3800 miles and I can see the reduction in tread.

No coding so don’t know if that would reset. I found it odd that seat memory got erased but I-drive was fine. Any idea how on how to get that weather widget back ? That was kind of useful.

And yeah, I think a lot of that tire wear has to do with my driving habits lol...I guess 20k is not bad for a set but I figured for an all season H rated tire - at least 30k! Non runflats in this category can go 40k +

A lot of people have had issues with their apps and widgets disappearing after the update and apparently, the only way to get it back is by going to the dealer again for an update later? I read the UK local forums and there have been people there too with the same issue once they updated their car.

And yes. My F25 X3 is at 34k miles and still on the original RFTs though the front tyres have almost hit 4/32. Even my A4 at 21k miles with the same brand as my 330i (Pirelli P7 non-RFT) had 6/32 remaining even after 3 years of aggressive driving.

The dealer cannot solve this issue. I have the same problem now after the 03/2020.24 update : no widgets, no Spotify...

The connected-drive team (BeLux region) informed me that they are aware about the problem and apparently all regions have received a communication from BMW HQ in Munich informing them that there is a ticket open for this issue and they are investigating it. For the moment the reason is still unknown and not all vehicles are affected..

So recommendation is not to get your Idrive updated to the 03/2020.24 until further notice

Mine is booked in for next week, supposedly to rectify the loss of apps etc). I really don’t see the point if it’s an issue at BMW.
(I was also disappointed to see my tyres are half worn at only 5000 miles. I don’t drive like a nutter)

Anyone know how to contact Connected Services Headquarters (or something), as my dealer has not able to solve simple problems in 6 months blaming it to the Connected Services and that they are not assisting.

So...

What could be a load of bullshit from a SA at a Ft Worth BMW dealership, but I'm now being told that an iDrive 7 update can be pushed to a vehicle from a dealership in the USA.

They said it would take up to a couple of days, as it's going through the vehicle's mobile data. All they need is the VIN and they can do it.

I remain suspect.

I told them I'm waiting 6 weeks to see how 3/2020 shakes down, as it's been a shitshow so far.

I’m in the Australian market and I can confirm that what your SA has said is in fact true. My vehicle is generally located some 3-4 hours from the dealership and on delivery last year was experiencing issues with connectivity and general iDrive bugs. Whilst they didn’t push an actual full system update through they did push out various smaller firmware updates to my vehicle remotely.
I was asked to re confirm services etc and various issues were fixed after they said they had pushed updates out.

Only yesterday before I took it in to the dealership they pushed updates to my vehicle through their portal and cross traffic alert started working which hasn’t for months. Shortly after I received an email from the service manager saying he had sent some commands to my vehicle via their portal which should address some issues, which it did.

I guess they can’t do it for everyone but based on my location they are a lot more accommodating.

I’m now sure how they process the OTA updates but in January this year I had my first OTA update pushed to my vehicle which put me on 07/2019.60 from 03/2019.48. I haven’t come across anyone else in Australia on here who has had the same OTA update come through.

If they offer to do it via your VIN I’d tell them to go for it as it won’t be full system update. I don’t believe they could for example push a full 03/2020 update through that way.

Connected drive is now updating every minute, and so far everything that wasn't working perfect seems to be working great!
