Delayed production of my M340i?
I recently ordered the M340 and the status hasn't moved from "Order Received". I called my sales associate and he said that the priority assigned in the order was the highest but I also called BMW NA and the representative told me that the car seems to be produced in second or third week of January. Also, the phone representative said that the status also can change at my given time from now.
Anyone have experienced this issue in the past? Any hints? Thanks Ed |

March? Maybe later if on west coast. Sucks but be patient, it is a fantastic car. I love mine. I live in California and it took about 10 weeks from order to delivery

I'm on the West Coast.. Assuming weekly ships delay (~7 days) + 28 days at sea + trucking to NorCal (SF), looking at best last week of Feb. Another Data point for delay... BMW Welt Munich is shutdown from December 21, 2019 - January 7, 2020. Last edited by haruny; 11-24-2019 at 01:34 AM.. Reason: BMW Welt info |

posted in my thread, but it seems like my car went into production a little earlier than quoted by bmw genius. They said week 50 but changed to "production begins" and got a vin week 49. Hopefully they ship it before the holidays.

So do I, my status changed to "Production Begin" according to the system the car should b ready by December 10 and few days later in a cargo ship to the States. Hopefully beginning of January.

Keep in mind that this isn't a first come, first serve type of ordering allocation. BMW can make X number a week, and they allocate those slots out to dealers for many weeks into the future. Not every dealer gets the same number of allocation slots either. If you order from a dealer who has no scheduled allocations left, you won't have a scheduled production date until they get more.
Some of us get/got lucky and our dealers had unclaimed allocations that they reconfigured for us so we got near immediate production. I spoke with 2 dealers with my car, one could get me into production within a few days, and the other had an 8-10 week wait for their next available allocation since they didnt move nearly as many 3 series usually. |

There are several spots where cars wait, for instance when changing transportation modes (factory to train, train to boat, boat to truck, etc). Higher priority cars move through these points faster on average. Again, if your dealers allocation is 8 weeks out and someone (you) buys the car, it generally wont change to next week, it will however move through the process potentially faster once the production week arrives. |
