If bmw does an update on my car while its in service do I need another femto unlock or can I use the MP product to do a bench unlock and I’ll be able to switch back to my tune?
Unlikely to work. If I recall correctly, the Femto “unlock” wasn’t a full unlock but rather just allowing a specific set of partner tuners to write to the tuning parameter areas. If it gets flashed by the dealer, it needs to go back to Femto.

I see that ‘S68 generation 3 (F90)’ is mentioned—but for the F90 it would be S63TU4. Will there be support for the M5/M8 F9X?

He clarified that was a typo and updated the first post It’s actually S63 F9x. The S68 is certainly a 2021+ DME which seemed odd to me as well.

Regarding your question, yes, and let me springboard off of what you asked... Realizing that the traditional “bench unlock” was a real pain point for the community. We felt it best to make the M-Link complimentary to any tuning platform vs locking it solely to Mission tunes. And this is the first of several upcoming releases, all of which are complimentary to any platform.
While the M-Link pairs nicely with any tuner's platform, our tuning platform remains the front-runner for drivers looking for a set-it-and-forget approach. While still retaining oem like reliability, predictability, and drivability.
Once unlocked, you can flash your ECU at will, all over OBD port. Just follow any special procedures, if any, that your tuning platform posts for regular bench-unlocked DMEs.

The hardware in the M-Link already contains unlocking capabilities for the 2021+ ECUs. Official support for these ECUs will be addressed and discussed for future releases.
Patiently waiting on the 2021+

That didn’t work (JS was already enabled) but switching the toggle for Request Desktop Webite did the trick in Safari settings. Thanks

Is it safe to say I am fully flagged and I pretty much ****ed, because even if I backup my DME the values has been already tempered with and BMW has detected it and it is not in their system, so even if I go to different service they will see this.
Yup you’re flagged…

Yup, that is what I was expecting to hear. No surprise here. Might as well go for a proper tune at this point.

As someone with a pre 6/20 G20 who doesn’t have a local bench unlock option this is GOLD.

Soon™ for the 2021+ unlock flash update... I'll believe it when I see it. Especially with the several important projects needing to be completed comment, I doubt any updates or mentions until well into next year.

Maybe I'll eat my words and they release it timely but having hardware that's compatible/capable doesn't mean anything when it could just be referring to it's ability to connect to ecu's on 2021+ models.

Maybe show an updated unlock video, proof of concept. Unless proven otherwise, it's another Soon™.

Since PnP flag can be set off ONLY by having actual piggyback (ok resistor trick with basic board can set it off as well), the warranty is denied even though the car looks fully stock. Why? Well because this specific flash has only one trigger function, that takes into account acceleration! So if you accelerated much faster then stock (letes hope you did, otherwsie the piggy-back did not actually function) and function detected other key parameters, this will be set off. BMW will also have access to "blackbox" data that outlines what performance paramaters (new one added is RPM/s, or RPM acceleration rate) were taken into account. To summrazie, you are screwed.
With this scenario, is there a way to remove the piggyback and "reset" the acceleration data so when it goes to BMW to not get flagged for PNP Variant?

i.e. Remove piggyback and drive 1000 miles without piggyback before going to BMW? I don't think BMW would store acceleration data forever in blackbox logs.

They wouldn't need to store the data I'm guessing. It probably triggers a flag based on your vehicle's performance metrics and just keeps it flagged. Maybe snapshots instances where it performed above expected parameters.

I highly doubt driving a few thousand miles will suddenly remove the flag for pnp.

It's "capable" but not yet. I would read through the topic before you buy. Highly dependant on when they push the update.

Also interested in that. I was thinking to contacting MP directly on this.

Did you do the flashback after you removed your piggy back tune?
