Exclamation I'll be removing the M and xDrive badges, anyone else?

I'm not an M badge hater (have owned a few over the decades) and I don't believe that the MXXX cars are diluting the M brand. I'm also not a huge fan of debaging cars regardless the reason

That said I simply don't like the look of the M before the 340 and if all 340's are M340's I don't feel the added M decoration serves any purpose of differentiating the car from the other G20 340's on the road so I'm going to ditch it. Just want to be left with a clean 340 emblem like I have now.

XDrive is going away as well, but that's probably more of an obvious choice.

Anyhoo I know there is not a right or wrong answer here (hold on I don't think I was seeking out an answer haha) and this is a million percent subjective so just sharing my intentions, that's all.

Rather than remove the xDrive badge, I am going to add "se" in front of it.

Ahh yes a modern play on the famous VW "rabbit injection" emblems from the 80's

I'm assuming you purchased outright? Then have at it.

Now if it's a finance or lease, you cannot do any "major tuning" ... found a chap on YouTube that got into some trouble with BMW for engine mods (600+ HP M4) on a financed vehicle. :

There is no other G20 340s on the road. M340 is the only model.

It is part of M Performance family BMW introduced, so there is many more on the road with M upfront

M550
m850
M760
M240

And some with M in the middle
x2 M35
X5 M50
x3 M40

Other Ms now have it at the end

x3 M
x5 M

I feel like you are obsessing over something silly. If you don't approve of them "diluting the M brand" why are you buying one? You think you're sticking it to BMW by removing a letter? If BMW starts calling the X1 the "M8 GTR" it's an M8 GTR whether you like it or not.

You don't need the m badge as the grill and tail pipes will determine which engine you have.

Hi Scarecrowboat
the only way that i am feeling is that I would prefer MY car without those two badges it doesn't go any deeper than that for me :-)

**edit**
You also misread my post relative to diluting the brand - that's something else I really don't care too much about

I'm going to take my M3 symbol and swap them real fast when i turn it in for the M340....jk jk

I'm going to leave it, its not a big deal to me. So much M stuff around these days. I really just care how i enjoy the car. Doesn't matter if its a M series or M sport version.

meh looks fine to me and I like the pretty ///M colors
And if the xdrive badge comes off then you better be able to show window sticker to any future buyers given a few of the recent incorrect orders that have gone through. Although buyer beware I suppose.

Just show that you can't spin the tires on launch.

Didnt realize this would evoke such passion from some but it's classic we've gone from...dear lord never ever put an m badge on a none m car to the new reality "don't touch that m badge" pretty funny really

Guess that little M badge just generates emotion on all sides :-)

Anyhoo too cluttered for me and my car will not have one - reading between the lines (cough cough) sounds like some of you will be leaving yours on and to that I say bravo

Right on!

Nah, I don't have an opinion one way or the other. But I do find it entertaining...

Badge or no badge it's the same vehicle.

Alas that would only be a temporary fix - My a.d.d. would kick in and force me to write M or MPower on the tape with a sharpie / but thanks for trying to help

Here is a good one for you,
BMW sells M performance parts for our cars. You can put them on real M cars and M performance cars.

I have a couple of those on the car - so I'm adding another badge to my car.

It is a double M now
