It looks terribly dated to me. The doors are nice but the center console just looks odd to me as does the tacked on screen. My buddy has a 2 yr old C43 and every time I get in it something or another creaks. Tons of reviews point out how if you push on the center console it always creaks. For all the flash of the interior design, the quality is just not there IMO.

Oh I'm only talking about the look. I think their new digital display looks better than BMWs live cockpit. I don't love the tablet style screen either but coming from an Audi, I was used to it. That being said, I 100% agree with you about the quality. Even my parents who have two E Class Mercedes, complain that the interiors squeak, creak and rattle. I test drove the C43 before buying the M340i and it had the piano black center console....holy shit balls was it terrible to look at, feel, press, etc. Crunchy plastic was all I could hear. Now the sales guy did admit that some of the interior trim selections felt and held up better than others. He said the open pore wood options didn't creak as much (they didn't have one on display so I'll take his word for it).

100% agree on Mercedes gauges, they are definitely more customizable than BMW's ugly digital gauges.

The creaking is definitely annoying that it has persistently appeared in every new Merc. My CLS has it , although it will only do it of I put pressure on the trim so I may have just gotten lucky since I haven't noticed it while driving.

That's the first thing I thought of. They already have AR navigation on the screen, an AR HUD is the next logical step.

It'll make me super jealous.

The MB infotainment graphics are ugly though. Reminds me of a Honeywell touchscreen thermostat.

Less touchscreen please! I dislike the latest setup of Audi, this does not look much better.

We are in the transition from the car as a mechanical analogue device to an electronic digital device. Expect more of Tesla like controls not less. It will produce cars with ever more features but less enjoyment to operate. Same as what happened to cameras in the transition. Better results but less enjoyment to operate.
