Setting same default profile on both key fobs

Hi everyone,

I've been experiencing weird behaviour with my key fobs. When i save my default profile (let's call it definitelydan) to Keys 1 and 2, both 'linkages' are set in OS 7.

The system goes wonky when i change keys, e.g., i use Key 1 on Monday, and i change to Key 2 on Tuesday. When i use Key 2 to unlock the car (via comfort access), it doesnt recognise definitelydan as the default profile. Instead, it asks me to select profile and i have to login to my definitelydan profile again.

When this happens to Key 2, it seems as though it forgets Key 1 as well. So the next time i use Key 1, i have to login again.

I've tried to remove linkages for both key fobs, deleting the profile, and adding the profile back before adding the linkages back. The second key is usually several hundred meters away when i do this.

Any ideas? my "BMW genius" says i cant set the same default profile across 2 keys but this sounds like rubbish to me.

That seems to be the case. Each key is designed to be assigned to a single profile and once you pair the account to the second key (I like to think of it as the backup key), the system wipes out the info stored for the first key. The way I solve this is to simply have a key chain attached to one of the keys to distinguish it from the other and leave the other one home just in case I lost the "major" key

Thanks. Strange implementation, especially since I’m the only driver of the car

I guess no one has successfully set the same default profile over 2 keys?
