Haven't had time to read everything but is there any evidence yet of ventilated seats? Not that I've seen.

It ain't perfect but I see this car as positive progress. Can't wait to see the M3

I don't know, mate...

I actually like the size of the F30 (G20 only a tiny bit bigger) - it's just about right for the times. When you start talking about 50-60k+ for a four door saloon, you kinda want something that feels more substantial, size-wize. At least that's my take anyways...

I do think the 1 series should be offered Stateside, however.

I agree with you the 3 Series is the perfect size at the moment, to constantly keep increasing it would be a mistake. Every other brand/company is trying to outdo each other, bigger is NOT always better. It's less efficient and less maneuverable. Humans are increasing in size and they want to carry more stuff since they're in their vehicles so much, and I get that. But there has to be some kind of limit. The current 3 Series is the same size of the old 5 Series. And since BMW has made their bread-and-butter 3 Series more luxurious that's where the 2 Series will come in unfortunately, I say unfortunate because we don't feel like downgrading because the price point is getting too high. Especially as the prices keep drastically increasing. We're paying for more technology which some of it is absolutely amazing, but some of it is completely unnecessary for most, cameras everywhere, etc.

I test drove the 2018 X4 40i it was the perfect size. It was built like a tank and slightly on the heavy side and under powered for its weight. And I just test drove the redesigned 2019 X4 30i to make a comparison. The redesigned model was actually larger but yet lighter in weight. And the 30i with the weight difference was just as fast if not faster. But I did find the vehicle to be slightly more cumbersome regarding maneuverability. It's not a dealbreaker by any means. But the X3 is now the size of the old X5. And like I said bigger is not necessarily better. And unfortunately you're forced to pay for it when you don't necessarily need it thats if you want to stay in the same model that you've driven and loved for years and have become accustom to.

I completely agree! When you re-design something it's supposed to be better than before. It's the absolutely the opposite in this case.

I think the concave oval cut-outs with the protruding doorhandles looks atrocious to be honest and cheap. Quite shocking that, the exterior Designers could've designed something beautiful and flush. That was one design element I thought was a huge FAIL.

I didn't want the increase either, but I drive an A4, which is also 186 inches long, so I can see why they did it. The one comment I've gotten from friends over my old F30 in the A4 is that.... they have more legroom when they sit in the back.

It is not a short car at this point though, but I think its not really a bad thing if you care about your rear seat passengers (and if you don't well you can buy a 2 series I guess). I still remember sitting in a friends E46 10 years ago, and as a rear seat passenger well... sitting int he back of an E46 sedan, is worse than sitting in the back of a 2 series today. Sucks that it makes the car longer, but you can't have both

You're right. Unfortunately, this is an online forum so oftentimes the line between jest and seriousness is not so clear.

For what it's worth, I, too, am disappointed by BMWs decision to streamline the transmission choices. As I see it, the take rate is high enough to justify the production of the car, especially in an instance where you are now in a position to be the only purveyor of a manual transmission luxury automobile.

Heck, I'd be willing to pay a small premium for the MT. In fact, why don't they make MT cars a custom option only. That way, they don't have to worry so much about having too many that don't move.

Whatever the case, I hope the //M is as nice (in terms of residual) as the outgoing model was. I plan on saving every penny to get another.

I've suggested the same thing before. I'll gladly pay for a special order, "individual" option, whatever upcharge BMW wants to throw at it. Especially now that it's been confirmed BMW will make 6MT G20 in configurations not available in USA.

Really sick of all these critics right now. Could someone please do a comparison between this and the 8-series rear end? Thanks

I like it. There seems to always be something to hate/dislike/not love. Few if any cars are perfect. Certainly not an kind-of-entry-level-luxo-do-just-about-everything car for the upper-lower-middle-class masses.
I am very glad to see the broken hood line gone. That little cosmetic thing kept me from loving the F30 ( and F10 ). I really love the M-Sport look. +1 to 100 posts above... agree there are some fiddly bits in the front corners that dont make sense in photos or maybe real life. The Full M-Performance hex grill is a even sillier. So fat looking. But overall, I like it, and I think I will probably get one. Re the active grill, they could have done something simpler, a single flap in the rear behind a standard grill without it all being SOO THICCKK.

Yes it is bigger. I've always preferred a slightly larger car. e39 was perfect for me, and this is just about there. If only there was a manual. It really is sounding like the G80 will have that. And if so, I will get it, probably. But at that price range, you are in Cayman land, or lightly used 911 territory. If I got the M3, or the Porsches.. then I would prefer to not drive them in the salty winters. So then I need second car adding more to the car expense. While a 6 speed 330 or 340 would not feel "special" enough to warrant garaging in foul weather. I want a manual M340i. that would be a dream. I would want a 6MT G30 540i too. That would be great. But we are forced to come to terms with the fact that manuals are only available now on cheap low-end spec cars, or full blown 2-ish seater sports cars. Oh well.

I don't know about the US but you do have the F31 330ix so I guess there is hope you'll get the G21 also.
It has been confirmed that the G21 wagon isn't coming to US soil. Hence, my complaining. I haven't heard a peep about a future GT variant either. If anyone has any info on the next 3-series GT for the US, please do share what you have! Otherwise, there is no hope for me owning a new 3-series because I will likely go with a V60 in early 2019 if I don't hear anything promising before then.

Pretty weak ass looking Lexus. Non m-sport is pretty ugly. What's up with that groove in the headlight?

I hope the m3 is a stunner. I'm waiting patiently.

I had an E46 and currently have the E90 and both cars had the trademark line that ran right across the door handles front to back, that line was so unique. I don't like how they removed that body line because they removed it seems like the door handles stick out more. It just looks so plain without that classic line from the side view.

LOL, no it won't. 5 series buyers prefer the size and better interior trim over the sportiness of the 3 series.

We need someone to check whether there's even any space under the trunk floor. It's not very helpful if BMW sells a spare that we have to leave in the regular trunk area.

I gotta say the T things don't look that bad in chrome and deep sea blue. My audi right now is dark blue and chrome and I guess i'm partial to the look of the car in the video, though somehow I'm guessing BMW won't let you put the sport suspension on the luxury line trim

Yea...they're going to a cost-cutting one-wheel strategy. Apparently, there was a big issue with the early X3s where some folks didn't get the M sport version. I'd be as upset as they are. I also hate the position of the heating button on the new one.
