In all honesty, the 3 things that made me think about this were:

1. C&D review.

2. Zero to Sixty times (pic attached)

3. This guy's timings (he counts from dead-stop):

All of them give 3.8 times so that is why i was amazed to see EU models pulling 4.3s
yes i know that video... but do not take that results too serious.
he is making a lot of mistakes measuring.
the times are not corrected, measured with mobile built in gps, the street is also not plan. downhill uphill... :-)
the draggy time i posted above is technically good. it is made with one of the most common systems. very straight and comparable. standing realistic times are between 4.1 and 4.3 on stock eu spec m340i
I suppose 4.1 & 4.2 are as you said, the realistic ones. When you think of it, the times are neck-and-neck to the current M3's/M4's so it will be a huge upgrade over the 430xi i traded.

I have always kept my distance from the M models due to their lack of practicality. I also don't find a reason to own a second car being just by myself and that's why the 30i petrol engine was perfect in terms of practicality/sportiness ratio. But when i saw this 340 i honestly HAD TO HAVE IT! Plus, in my country, an identical configured 330i would be only 4000€ cheaper so this was the only logical way to go. Dunno of you can believe me, but every single day i check my configurator for it ) Plus, guess what my phone & laptop wallpapers are!

i was looking for the last whole year. i had a genius e550 coupe and had to switch to family wagon (bmw 530d touring) for the past 4 years. now kids are grown, wifey has a new suv and i am back in biznesss
first idea was c43 amg, than e53 amg, than i looked at the audi s4... m3/m4... the journey ended with the m340i. it was my last dest drive and one hour later i ordered

I wasn't actually looking to swap my car, having taken delivery of my ordered 430xi gc in march 2018, but again, i saw what this baby can do and the fact that they fitted on the 3 series every single one of the tech i would have wanted if i was looking at a higher-class (7,8 series), made me think there is no way i could pass on the deal. Great choice brother and i am also sure i will be keeping this for the next 4 full years. Plus, it's a new model so it'll only get a facelift in about 3 years time

thats it

my only concern is, that the new 4 series will knock me out of my shoes when they publish it officially. i couldnt wait for it because i had a really fat estate offer which only was guilty for orders till december 2019.

so, sorry for the 4 series guys... i hope that thing is going to be ugly

Well, another reason is that 0-100 is not equal to 0-60
It's more like 0-62.2

I would not get too worried about the acceleration figures for the time being. Even with 4.4s it's an incredible machine.
I remember when I trashed the F90 M5, it was the incredible ease of performance & the unbelievable width of capabilities that rendered me speechless. Not the brutality of the 3,5s acceleration. The M340i will probably also be such a car.

))))

I honestly could have waited for the 4 series to officially launch, but another 7-8 months until taking delivery to enjoy the B58 was way too much to handle. I'm at ease knowing the m440i will be the exact same machine inside & out, but with a different bodywork (if i would have opted for the 4 series, i would have gone for the grancoupe). And i actually love the sporty elegance the current 3 series has, where the 4 series will surely be more aggressive.

Based on what i read, the 340 will probably ne one for the books. Dunno why, but it is just so perfectly balanced in every single way. I have not driven one prior to ordering, but i have driven the 330xd and i love the feel behind the wheel. The 340 will more than likely exceed in every single way.

I would hang on to that thought and smile every time you look at your new special beast and use it. Focussing on the 0-100 could bring miscontent and have you focussed on a secondary quality. Balance and composure during all conditions are its real virtues, this is why you drive a BMW like this.

In Arizona to be a criminal offense it has to be more than 20 mph over the speed limit. Some highways have 75 mph speed limits. So one can go 85 and not get a criminal citation on some roads.
