Hey folks,
I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on a low mileage used 2021 m340.

How is the tuned reliability of these cars?
I previously owned a fbo n54 335, and it was a nightmare... It spent more time in the shop then my driveway.

I'm assuming the b58 is lightyears better then the n54.

What kind of supporting mods are needed for a stage 2 tune?

But the m340 has rave reviews, so I'm willing to try again.

Mine's still new but so far so good. I had an N54 years ago that was rock solid, but all I ever did was a few mild bolt-ons.

Bm3 looks interesting, how does that stack up with dinan and mission offerings?

Do you realize you have to ship your ecu to Finland and spend $2k to unlock it? Only way you can run bm3.

Yes... From the reviews of the B58 B30O1 engine they are being seen as one of the best engine ever.

Correct me if i am wrong, but even the earlier B58 engines from the F30 had great reliability.

So the latter version in M340i's can only be even better

There is no OBD2 unlock available. On 06/20+ cars you have to send DME to Femto. On the 2020s you still need a bench unlock which requires you to send DME to someone in the states or to PTF in Canada. Some people have shops local to them that do bench unlocks.

I would research this topic before buying a car just to realize your only option is JB4 or to ship DME across the world for an unlock.'

Also, yes the B58 is more reliable than the N54.

Hi, I have a 2020 M340i Stage2 with Mission Tuning, was not hard, nor expensive to get the DME unlocked, hit up Mission and ask them about it.

There are some software updates that have come in the last few months that can make this a nightmare, but generally speaking it was easy and fast for me. Reliability seems to be their main focus, followed by performance. Highly recommend Mission.

I haven't dyno'ed, but the onboard computer in sports display says just under 500 LB FT of torque, and a little less on the horsepower.

I have my factory cat installed, but running a Dinan intake and turbo inlet, as well as different spark plugs and Dinan coils

Also, yes the B58 is more reliable than the N54.

I bench unlocked mine about the time you posted this, just fyi, unless OP is running a 2021+ or has the fooked software update, it's really easy to get a proper tune flashed
