Mini 5 filled to the brim with tech and what seems like a sporty hoffmeister kink connecting to a sort of mini spoiler shape incorporated in the trunk?

Interesting

It looks great, makes it look more like a coupe and know more of that ugly looking rubber weather stripping around the doors.

The new kink reminds me of the upcoming X4. It's not one round kink, but segmented into more parts, if that makes sense. I like it.

No way that's definitely 80s mom jeans , 70s would have hideous bell-bottoms. They didn't do stone washing in the 70s, that was a late 80s thing, LOL. I think I just threw up a little bit in my mouth.

Functional vents only please!

It looks like a dent that someone kicked in. I hope will be a real air vent not a false piece of cheap plastic. If it's not functional it has NO need to be there!

now if only they would release the M3 simultaneously...

lots of promise with this generation... from all the teasers so far the interior looks to be a significant step up.

That's how most other BMWs are now and it looks far better that way. I really didn't like how the 3 series had the super thick frame because of the combined gutter trim and window frame. Especially on M sport cars, it ruins the glossy trim look because you've got ugly rubber directly underneath.

If you look at pretty much any other M Sport BMW of the last 20 years, they have the thinner gloss black window trim and it looks far better close-up.

So it looks to be true that BMW are going for quality & build integrity (over bling) with the G20.... that’s what I like to see, a car that really looks and feels a cut above the rest... Audi can keep their gimmicky pop up screen and MB their blingy chrome trimmed cabins!

I wonder how much the decision to fuse the kidney grills came from design versus providing a place to put the front camera.

I don't dislike the look of the link, but I hate the execution of both the kink and the trim. I always loved how BMW used to have its trim separate from the door. For one, slightly misaligned doors don't mess up the line. For two, it seemed to me more elegant to have the line maintained with the doors open. I imagine this was the more expensive way to produce cars, as everyone has shifted away from it and toward trim integrated into the doors. Finally, I hate how the kink looks like a stand-alone afterthought. If you're going to meld the trim with the door, continue it all the way...don't add a piece to it. I bring this up because I remember seeing this car back in a focus group study back in 2015 and there was no kink. I imagine this was raised by at least some consumers, believe me I did, and it almost looks like BMW said okay give 'em back the kink!

The G11 just puts the camera in a dark housing between the grilles, which I prefer.

I haven't really seen a successful joined kidney grille in the new BMWs yet. The shape between the grilles is too flat of a surface or something, I'm not quite sure how to explain it. But the bit of material joining the grilles together just isn't integrated elegantly IMO. Maybe they'll figure it out better in future iterations.
