Will I be able to get one at MSRP?

This will likely be my first brand new M car after the LCI version comes out (thanks to AWD.) So my question is... Do they usually go over msrp in the US for an M? (Like P cars)

They're going for sticker price, you won't see discounts/deals for a lease 1-2 years

Works for me. Waiting to get the updated lci look in two years. Maybe they'll make the front look better.

Not true. Depends on your relationship with your dealership. I'll be leasing below invoice when the G83 starts production next July, but I'm a two M vehicle leaser every 3 years. Economics of scale.

Pricing is completely a regional topic, but doubtful that the new G8x series will hold full MSRP for anything more than 3-6 months after they hit showrooms. It will be completely dependent on inventory levels, demand, and availability. Given BMW sells more M3/M4's than any other M Model, doubtful availability will be an issue at full production after a few months.

I'm referring to the cars that are going on order now. Basically anyone who places an order now is paying sticker price. Sure there may be one offs but it's unlikely you'll see any discounts for a while. Nothing like you see going for F82s right now

Maybe in places like Seattle, but discounts can definitely be had within the first 1-2 years.

Definitely agree! I buy mine all the time below invoice. It's all about the relationship you have with your dealer. I could have one now at 10% off msrp if I wanted one.

Agreed 3-6 months and maybe a quick burst back to msrp for the new xdrive models in July/august next year before xdrive allocations settle out. If xdrive isn't a separate allocation then it probably won't

I got 7% off my first F80 2 months after launch...

By the time my 2016 ZCP M4 came around they were practically begging me to buy it. I think I got 14% off?

Is this a US only thing, that you hardly get any discounts, or is it a German thing that we get massive discounts?

I think the average discount is like 18% or something here. You could order the F40 on launch with 14% discount. Even on the G8X you'll probably get >10% discount on launch. Currently you get up to 36% on F36 GC, as long as they still build it.

The gap between list price and fair market price varies widely around the world based on the unique market expectations. Which is why list prices between counties is rarely an apples to apples comparison

it will always come down to allocations (supply) and demand. econ 101. but from what I have seen in the many years of doing this, is the first wave you will see higher prices. After a while the demand dies down a bit and thats when you see things even out. It will be a mass produced car so i dont see why this trend wouldn't follow through with this model. If you are one of those who have to have the first ones then yes you will pay more and the programming wont be as strong, if you wait a little while then yes things will most likely ease up

MSRP or a slight mark up if you want to be the first to play.

Not in SoCal.

Probably have better luck with the next batch of allocations but discounts could be had now if youre serious.

LCI won’t be 2 years, more like 3. And don’t count on any change to the grill.

A friend got 35% off a brand spanking new M4 CS. They were at the dealers for months in Germany, nobody wanted to have them lol. Discounts for the CS were all in the 28-35% range after BMW couldn't sell more than a few of the 130 units produced for Germany in like half a year. Additionally about €5k over the market value for his M4 trade-in.

Could you lease with a 60% residual in Germany as well? 35% off would make for like a sub-$200 USD/month lease, it would make the $700-$800 bargains in the US seem like they really raked over the coals.

With prices being that low I feel like everyone would jump on them bringing the amount of discount down to where we typically see them here in the US or SoCal where I'm at.

The MSRPs are also a lot higher in Germany though.

The German MSRP for the M4 CS is 116,900 Euros (137,560 USD at today's exchange rates). The US MSRP is 103,100 USD.

65% of 137,560 USD implies a selling price of 89,470 USD or so, which seems in line with what people are getting in the US as reported in this thread.

Generally, residuals are much, much lower in Germany compared to the US. A 3 year old used leasing-return (with reasonable miles, 40-60k km) can be had for about 40% of MSRP or even lower (I'm talking about a "normal" car, like a 530d). E.g. my M550d is loaded to the brim and had an MSRP of €118k, I got it with 48k km after 3 years for €44k, which was more on the cheap side, but not far off the charts.

The M4 CS probably holds its value better, but I still expect a residual of about 50%.
