I was registered to go to UDE at MetLife on Sunday but didn’t attend due to rain.

Can anyone go see the new M3 or was this invite only type of thing?

It was basically just a gloss black paintline across the bottom section. I would have believed that an owner applied vinyl there if I didn't know any better (and take a close look trying to peel it off!).
Yeah, that sounds weird. Hopefully part of this first edition package.

Rumor has it the G83 will only be 8AT MxDrive.

Interesting the gear selector is similar to the X3M, which is what the F90 has. The spy interior photos had the M8 gear selector. Highly doubt that BMW would have two different gear selectors, one for the G80 and an other for the G82/83.

In shopping for a luxury or non-appliance, I have 3 top tier considerations, that's all:
Can I afford it without upsetting my lifestyle.
Is it enjoyable to drive.
Will it make me look back (happy) every time I park it.

Everything else is negotiable, or dependent on an external factor (I don't need it to carry 4 people because.... or, I dont need AWD because.....).

Ironically I'm limiting myself budget-wise for the next car with the purpose of keeping my F80. Could I plan to sell/trade it and bump my budget ceiling up another 40k - yes, but the worst thing to me would be to want MY car back and be unable to get it. So, if the new one takes my breath away, maybe I decide to part with the F80. But I can't do it until I'm sure.

If the G80 really grabbed me by the emotions when I saw it yesterday, I think all of my upcoming decisions would be a lot easier to stomach on the risk front.

This. I have the last MY the f80 m3 was built- in yas with competition package and mint with 7800 miles on the clock. Not to mention nearly full ppf. I did all this on a lease expecting to buy the car at the end of the term.

The attraction of having the “newest” thing is a hard pull to resist, but much like you if I decide to order the g80 I’m going to drive the wheels off this car in the last year. But I’m going to have to resist the new car urge and make sure if I make the decision it’s based on the total package and not making any compromises.

Otherwise- I’ll really regret not keeping the f80 and the Likelihood of finding one like the one I have now in the condition is in will become harder and harder as time wears on.

Decisions ...

I'm with you here in spirit, independent of the next car. Drive the hell out of them - I don't advocate abuse, but drive the cars how they should be. These aren't $2M cars and coffee showcruisers here, you can value and treat your things well, while still using them properly. There's a middle ground to find for sure.

My F80 is just a bit over 5 years old, has 32k miles on it. Same as you, was leased and I put more than I'd like to admit into it as a leased car. But the intent was to likely purchase at lease conclusion, which I did end up doing.

I should've been more clear in my post, I've got the next fun car on order coming in the Spring/Summer (hopefully, Fuck Covid for many reasons, this one low on the list) and it's very out of character for me; Not coming from Munich, and won't have 4 doors.

No, that I'd consider as being the lower door edge. This is a black line on the rocker molding/side skirt that results in everything above it in body color, everything below it gloss black. Going around the circumference of the entire car.

Jesus this is just a psychological experiment to prove how people can not only adapt but actually grow to like something awful if they're exposed to it enough with adequate amounts of apparent groupthink appreciation.

You're all bad people 🤣 and you've failed the test.

I assume it looks exactly like this... the leaked rear end photo. Can just make out the side skirts as well

I've been thinking the same thing. Why would you force yourself to like an $80k purchase? If you like it go for it, but if you don't why say "it'll do"? Weird logic to me.

In other words, find a better example. That 3d rendering was the closest gloss black accent decal I can think of off the top of my head.

Not sure if this rendering is good enough either.

That’s aero like that on the GT P-cars. Apparently it’s not that but the whole lower 10% or so of the car painted in gloss black...which sounds like how some cars in the 80s were having rust protector spayed.

True- well for me it’s mild ocd rather than thinking it’s a special 2m car - I don’t like scratches or dings on anything I own- electronics, cars, etc

Sometimes I wish I could have the opposite mindset- no ppf - wash the car once a month and unless your chip or dent requires a body shop - move on and enjoy

I guess I could buy my f80 - pay it off in a few more years then have the flexibility to get another car at that or higher price point

I’ve seen this on M235i with M performance bits and it looks great. Not the tri-colored stripe but the black piece. Again if it’s like that, great but if it’s a black sprayed wide area around the whole car..yuck.

I need to dig around my brain a bit more. It's a contemporary interpretation of the E30 M3 Evo contrast accents with the sills tied in to symbolize a full evolution.

I still have a hard time picture it. Does the M4 get the same and is it part of a package or standard?

If carbon ceramic brakes are standard on the Competition models, expect the MSRP to reflect that. May be in the $80k's.

If you scroll up you will see that it’s not standard in the competition models. It’s part of a package which in itself could be the 1st time.
