I'm interested in this too. I'm guessing the wheels for the F30 don't work on the G20? Do we know if wheels from any other BMWs work on the G20?

I saw that MrWinterWheels list the G20 but those are not of course OEM wheels. Not sure about brake clearance etc especially for the M Sport brakes.

I'd read that the F3x wheels will not fit the G20 due to the new 5x112 bolt pattern.

I had Pirelli soottozeros on my previous f30 during the winter.
I think they are too winterish. I.e. good in Norway where it is -30 at times but not so great in the England.
The problem in England is that winter temperatures YoYo..
2C one day and then 10C a few days later.
Sottozeros feel like Jelly when the temperatures rises.
They maybe more useful in Scotland.

The Pirellis were brilliant in the snow. They're certainly a 'winter' tyre.

I've sold my 405m/Pirelli winter set to a work associate who has a F30. Not sure yet if I'll get some for my G20. A few options around already.

I intend to sell my 405/Pirelli winters.
I wasn’t going to buy another set of BMW winter wheels and tyres because of the £££. About £2.3 K, however our daughter in law is expecting a baby in December.
My son lives in Leeds and the Pennines can be bleak at times so I may have to get winter wheels in case we are needed to look after our eldest grandchild.
In the 6 years I had the winters on the f30 I only needed the winter
tyres for about 5-6 days in total.

G20 Winter wheels

I have same issue as you - Still got my 405M with Pirelli 240 series 2 tyres. They are much better than the SottoZero 3 in my opinion

Just bought new set Genuine 496m in Black with Continental T860S

Best sources right now in Germany not in UK.

You can buy below £2k brand new with caps delivered DPD

Hope that helps

Coming from a country where it is prohibited to drive with summer tyres during the winter... my bet is to get universal/all season tyres from ones like goodyear or michelin. You would be covered for whole winter without any issues, unless you live in highlands.. As that 1 cm of snow every 3 years is not an issue at all for all season tyres.

Good place to look for ones is either reifendirek (google that) either https://www.pneus-online.com/
You get good prices on both with delivery to UK (pre-brexit obviously)...

At least in my home country we usually have two sets of tyres or whole set of rimms with tyres what you store in shed/garage offseason. You winter and summer tyres last twice long so in the long run you end up spending the same.

Only issue for me is that my lease company might need my employer approval for tyre change, and employer reps(read HR/approvers) are idiots.

I currently drive the Mondeo Hybrid - FWD 180 bhp. I get a wheel spin on every T-junction when it is wet and below 10. It feels like car has like 500 bhp DDD

I don't think I'll bother with winter tyres for my G20 yet. Because it's such a new model the only options seem to be quite an expensive outlay, whereas in another year or so there may be some used sets of wheels available. Also, it's a company car, so I'm less inclined to fork out my own money on it. I've got winters for the M4, so if it's ever that bad I'll use it instead.

We've just bought my wife a C class, and that's been around a while so I should be able to sort a set of winters for that more cheaply too.

Don’t bother with oem, way overpriced! Mrwinterwheels have these Autec wheels which are German made, TUV approved and made specifically for BMW’s, only £1200 with the excellent Goodyear Ultragrip Gen 1’s and oem TPMS valves:

Wouldn't it be cheaper just to buy the winter/all-season tyre set and mount it in November, then put back the summer tyres in April or so, storing your tyres in shed/garage during the time they are not mounted?

G 20 Wheels

Hi Guys

Thanks for all the advice - Much appreciated

I understand the comments on other manufacturers wheels but I had a problem a while back so I stick to BMW OEM - Expensive yes - But maybe a little comfort

Finally Bought 1 set New - 796M in Matt black with new Continental T860S 225 x 45 R18 tyres for a square setup. Due end this week

Dealer best price for same wheels and SottoZero - about £250 more

All I need to do now is to sell my New 405M Black 18 inch with SottoZero 240 series 2 Tyres - done 200 miles only

Put them on here but no interest - They are on Ebay now

Regards
