Hm, why does it have such a large cooler up front (e.g. visible at 3:40 in the video) ... it looks like the cooler of the S58? Does this make sense?

Short trips? I actually regularly make the 650 mile round trip to Vegas on the weekends, because I love driving the M50. And yes, I set the cruise control at 85mph, and go up from there. No one passes me on the trip. When we stop to charge, we want to stop for a break and a snack anyways.

Don't know why you would call BMW wagons a joke. They are basically the same chassis as the sedan. They also make an M3 and M5 wagon. They are plenty sporty.

EVs instant torque is something you use and feel, every time you drive it. The fact that you can have over 500HP in an 90MPGe EV is amazing. Again, if I had the choice of being noisy and slow compare to silent and fast, I would take the later every time.

Look at the 22 Goodwill Festival Of Speed, where new records were set. The fastest cars were EVs, and are anything but boring.

It was the only option that appealed to me. A family hack? Is that why y’all are drooling over the M3 touring? Talk about a hack.

You want a sports car get a BRZ and be done with it. Or a 911.

The future is electric. Kick and scream all you want.

got the wife a EV6 GT and i can play around with it too!
This is why you get an M3 instead of an M340. The M340 is a fast daily commuter so it’s supposed to have those attributes.

I’m surprised people aren’t commenting yet with the usual BS of “I already put a deposit down for this with my dealership”.

I got a Taycan GTS and it’s fantastic. EV doesn’t make sense for all YET. But it will eventually with faster charging and more infrastructure.

I will say that every time I hear a s$&y Honda or an annoying mustang (lots around here) with a loud muffler accelerating nowhere, all I can think is ‘EVs can’t get here fast enough.’

Also, the idea of not smelling exhaust, especially those that cut their cats out, and less car engine and exhaust noise will make downtown areas of major cities more pleasant.

Im not bagging the M3 wagon, im bagging your shitty 330i wagon.
If you want a performance car buy one, dont buy a stocker then complain that its not an M car.
Been there done that re 911’ & yes theyre impressive if you buy the right one. My daughter had a Toybaru (sold it after 6 months) & i drove it a few times, its a hairdressers car imo, though i can see why they appeal to kids due to the affordability.

I hate to say but I’m down with this. I had a Taycan CT last summer on a trip and it was marvelous. My m8 and m3 are pretty loud and I’m growing tired of the noise. The silence and ambient spaceship sound of the taycan is nice. I don’t need to have everyone hear my car coming down the street. Not even sure what the point of all that is. And if I want car sounds I just listen to the asd in the cabin. Doesn’t bother anyone else and still sounds cool.

The noise fanboys are hilarious. Just purse your lips, bros. Or put a CD of engine sounds in. Hyundai has a car for your! Probably the same people who complain that about piped in engine sound or noise enhancement from the stereo.

I have an FRS and an i4 M50. I barely drive the FRS anymore. This quad motor will be a wondrous beast. Wondrous!

since i got the EV6 GT nobody wants to ride in my BMW. they say it's very uncomfortable and third world!

i think i have a winner, they can ride with mum, and i can go maniac mode in my car. well i can try, but i can't get it to maniac very well.

coz my idea of maniac is like this

i didn't know that BMW only makes M cars. hmmm ... in fact i've never seen an M car on the road in real life, only shitty wagons, i just did a 10 hr round trip today and only shitty wagons. i guess BMW stands for shitty wagons. and soon BMW will stand for shitty EVs. i tested a M3 Comp and a M5 Comp the other day and the throttle lag was horrendous. only Porsche makes real cars.

you should prolly get a GT3 RS as soon as possible. oh wait ...

It seems like an incredibly risky bet to take. I have zero desire to own an electric car.

From a technical point of view I'm sure it will be really cool to have 4 engine torque vectoring, but this won't really work on track. The big racetracks are not about to commission a 400kV triphase tower coming from 'the grid' to enable 100 fast chargers.
that's right, EVs don't make track cars, they are mainly for luxury commute, the occasional canyon push, and having fun around empty carparks

re bet: the EU has decreed you must sell EVs, so they're just making hay while the sun shines

The biggest fear i have when racing a very loud Mustang or Challenger is that the cops will immediately be drawn to all the noise!

EV sales are still growing…but the rate of growth has slowed to an estimated 15% annually after a 50% yoy in 2023. EVs are too expensive or viewed as impractical for a lot of people. Cars like this 1,000 hp i4 will likely be north of $100,000…and eat tires like breakfast cereal. Fun…YES!

Limited to around 1000 PS, i believe.
More interesting is the dynamics of 4 motor torque vectoring....
