330e Level 2 chargers, US

Curious what I should think about in terms of a Level2 charger for our 2023 330e. Are there particular specs that are vital? Overkill?
Are there brands that are more reputable than others?
Is WiFi connectivity (and app) useful?

Hopeful to learn from those who have already researched this. Thanks in advance!

We used a clipper creek with our volt, was a great unit and is still hooked up in the garage waiting for the next ev. I don't know what the max draw of the 330e is, but match the amp load and you're good to go.

The 330e will max out at about 16A so pretty much any Level 2 charger is likely overkill. I personally had installed a JuiceBox 48 hardwired which is complete overkill, but since my wife is planning to get a new car in a year or two, I decided to have something a bit more future proof. It can charge the 330e from empty in about 2.5 hours so I'm kind of hoping that we can somehow "share" it eventually.

We have a city rebate on this, or I probably wouldn’t bother. Landlord seems amenable to doing it, and the level 2 will let me charge entirely in the Super-Off-Peak rates, instead of needing 2-3 hours of Off-Peak with my current L1 travel charger. Savings will be about $1/day.

Looks like most any L2 is running 32A (or higher) output. I guess they’re all a little overkill. We’ll see how much future proofing the landlord wants.

anybody finding a good deal on a level 2 charger.

Just had an electrician install a NEMA 14-15 outlet in my garage. As I consider chargers for my 330e - I sort of wonder how important all of the wifi / smart features are if the "My BMW" app is already providing plenty of info regarding charging status.

Thinking of a Juicebox 40 as it is always highly reviewed and it should provide the charging support I need as we add a EV (vs 330e) someday.

We got a JuiceBox 40 for our 330e. We time-limit the JuiceBox to our lowest Time-of-Use rates, and have set the car to “charge immediate”. The app provides an additional significant figure when it comes to kWh usage, but doesn’t seem to know how to calculate rates(tariffs) for us. For my data collection, I use the kWh number from the JuiceBox app and the cost number from the BMW app.

Charge times went from about 9 hours (Level 1 @ 10a) to 2:45 (Level 2 @ 16a).

Your feedback makes me think I should just go with the juice box 40. Seems like a good product and will set me up for the future.
