Also, isn't the base price now higher for a 3 Series as well?
The differences are subtle...here's another rear package comparison.

F Gen GT: Leg 39.2 Head: 38.3
F Gen GC: Leg 33.7 Head: 36.9
F Gen Sedan: Leg 35.1 Head: 37.7
G Gen Sedan: Leg 35.2 Head: 37.6
G Gen GC: Leg:34.9 Head: 36.6
X3: Leg:36.4 Head: 39.1

In the F generation, there was almost 1.5" of lost rear legroom from sedan to GC. Now, the GC rear legroom is improved over the F Gen GC. But, the roofline is now the tightest. I just had two very happy full-size adults in the back of my GT for a couple of hours. I will have to do the "sit behind myself (6'2") test" before committing to the new GC/i4. But, fallback is not the sedan...no more conventional trunks. I'd do a new X3 first, maybe hybrid if no EV in the works again, or go to another brand.

Oh yeah, definite room improvements over all F-Series cars;
& I absolutely love the hatchback feature just as much as the next variant afficionado...

However, speaking strictly G-Series 3 vs 4GC..:
When spending this level of bread, I'm not going to sacrifice the better performance AND
larger interior dimensions over different looks & hatch practicality.
To each his own, but I just couldn't.

Just MIGHT have to wait for the 3 LCI....

I'm into the 4GC as how the i4 is presented, so no concerns about performance. I cannot see investing in a new ICE vehicle again and anything with a trunk is a non-starter. My decision will come down to interior package and price, or I'm off from the G26 to other EVs.

anyone know when production on the GC will begin for the USA market? or is dependent on everything pandemic-related?

It appears to be quite close to the absence of color.

When I see it, I just see the absence of paint. I'd call it "saving up for a paint job while I drive around with primer" 🤣 (sorry matte lovers, it's what I see)

Completely agree! I spent ~25 years at another OEM, sometimes visiting the plants assembling the vehicle program I managed. These finishes look to me like one of two things.....body-in-white out of E-coat before reaching the paint booth....or some early mules being used for vehicle development.

I don't get it myself, but I appreciate other's freedom to appreciate matte finishes.

Absolutely, to each their own, great to have choices, and also great to be able to talk about them up or down.

It’s working now.

No Arctic Race Blue ????

Is there any way to get one built that way custom no matter the cost?

Yea ... few colors.

The only combination it worked for me was dravit Gray with cognac interior.

Just pre-ordered today my new m440i GC. Full - except the wireless charging. Hope I won t have any problems. Delivery around oct-nov.

Funny thing ... at the same price I could ve bought the I4 M50 - with jan delivery. SAME PRICE - shy of a few specs.

------------------

One of the main reasons I've bought the 440Gc and not the 440 Coupe is actually the ground clearence ... 140mm vs 129 mm.

Garage List
2018 330i LCI  [0.00]
2020 G20 M340ix  [0.00]
Overall looks good. Compared to the G22 the grilles seem to work a lot better with this chassis. Just need to get rid of all the cerium bits they don't compliment the car at all.

I am slightly confused about this - System configurator is up, pricing is released, but there still are no press reviews of the car? The sequencing seems different than what I have observed with some other makes.

indeed, i4 M50 is about the same price as the m40i so was hesitating now but seems I m only getting a very low rebate on the i4 whereas I get a big rebate on the m40i so seems I'm being pushed then to the m40i, even though its less powerful and more polluting but hey, if the price difference is that big after rebate...

would also be the reason for me to buy the GC as ground clearance is a bit higher and thus probably a bit more comfort.
Tried the coupe m40i but was a little less comfortable than the 340i so expecting the GC to be more comfortable than the coupe without losing too much of the sporty ride.

And indeed, was considering the i4 M50 as about the same price and more powerful but then the dealer told me the rebate is a lot less on the electric than the petrol so not really motivating then to go for the more environmental solution
