Scheduled Maintenance Extension warranty worth it?

I have a 2021 M440i convertible and the schedule maintenance expires this month and the BMW app offered to sell me the 5 year schedule maintenance upgrade (Actually 2 years) for $899. Is this even worth it? I figured the scheduled maintenance is oil change once a year and brake fluid every 2 years. I only drive about 3500 miles a year. Any advice and input? Thank you.

No. Just find an independent mechanic.

I was offered by F&I the 5-yr maintenance for$699 3 years ago and I still skipped.

The plan only covers oil change, brake fluid, key fob battery, so it is expensive even for $699.

I’m probably going to buy the bigger plan for my M550. It’s $2,900 for two years and includes brakes. Me and my SA sat down and looked at my average miles driven and the maintenance schedule and figured out it will save me $1,000 if I have it those two years. A good SA will be able to sit down and help you figure out if any of those plans make sense for you.

Oh and we picked the two year plan because of when I’d need the brakes. The three year plan would cost me more and I would get almost no benefit other than an extra oil change. Like I said, a good SA is really helpful in picking the best plan for you. But you need to be sure you’re going to keep the car, otherwise it’s money up a hog’s ass.

If all you are getting are oil changes and brake flush I wouldn't get it. Once my 3 year scheduled maintenance period ended, my BMW dealer started sending me coupons for $89.95 oil changes (and even though they state there is a 5 quart limit, they still honor it for the 6.5 or so liters of the B58 engine).

Though the the BMW garage, I can purchase the 2 year platinum plan for $2K. I would make sure your SA isn't gouging you.

BMW's extended maintenance products go by the name of Ultimate Care Scheduled and Ultimate Care+.

When you quoted platinum plan, are u referring to a BMW ESC, or an aftermarket extended warranty? And what exactly is the BMW garage?

$2k seems relatively low for a BMW 2-year platinum ESC.

I’ll check it out but I doubt we’re comparing the same plans. The brakes alone are a really expensive maintenance item. I highly doubt BMW would be offering that on the app for $2k for brakes, oil changes, brake fluid, plugs, etc.

Sorry, my mistake. I said Platinum but mean Ultimate Care+ for maintenance. Not the extended warranty.
