rodent ate harness around car wires
had this error message for a bout 2 weeks i thought it was because of the wrong gas since my dad filled it up with 87 it never went away so took it to bmw today and they said a rodent ate a harness around the wires and it’ll cost 3000 to fix are they just trying to get money out of me or is this a serious issue

There is clearly an issue that needs to be fixed.
If you feel they are overcharging, go to another service center for a quote. Also since this is not warranty work you can use 3rd party shops. You can use local BMW resources to find a reputable shop in your area. |

If it's not a warranty repair I'd use a good independent mechanic. Much more reasonable.
