Why don't the US spec laser headlights have the blue accent?
Like in this picture. I'm talking about the blue light strip inside lighting up. It looks really nice with the blue accent but my M340i with laser does not have that, only white. Wondering if it's U.S. regulation? And if it can be coded in just like anti dazzling feature? |

I think you're not supposed to have forward blue or red lights. It mimics police kinda

The United States has stricter lighting color laws than Europe. Blue is reserved for emergency vehicle use. I don't believe there is any consideration for the brightness of the light.

Really? When I go over to the states it seems every man and his dog has installed some sort of dash light/light bar. |

However, I'm not surprise; the standards of headlights safety here is very rudimentary and has little room for subjective exceptions. The regulations is written like a bible and as less forgiving as one *Below* A large reason for the inflexibility is due to high number complains from constituents regarding glaring, so manufactures err on the side of safety to prevent a stop-sale based on noncompliance. There is a cap on light the output based on "photometry" i.e. distance of glare from projection. Manufactures self-regulate based on how there interpret the rules. Time to search eBay for some Blue Euro lights.. https://www.federalregister.gov/docu...ated-equipment |

The EU and US laserlight headlights are not the same. The part numbers are different. I also read an article on bmwblog stating that the US lights aren't as bright as the EU lights. I would be surprised if the US lights have the same blue illumination capability as the EU.
EU & US Headlight, laser light: different PN Control unit, front light electronics: same PN LED module, daytime driving lights: same PN |
