Unless your girlfriend is a really really hot chick, I think you must be imagining things. I've seen the M340i on the road and it is a pretty non-descript BMW. I don't know why anyone with any dignity would try and race it. It's not like it's an M3 with quad exhaust and flared fenders. And a real ///M badge. |

You got an "M" performance car after all, and it's badged to stand out over a non-M Performance 330i. It's a sportier car, with a more aggressive look that appeals to enthusiasts and, like it or not, a younger crowd. Of course people are gonna flex, they are teenagers with lots to prove.

That's generally what you find on this site. Seldom do you see a thread to the effect of: "I need to address a CEL, but my local service center is stricken with Malaria", or "Has anyone else found that the cheetahs enjoy racing with your new m340i?", or "A recent passenger of mine was diagnosed with Ebola, now the government has declared my m340i to be biosafety level 4."

Kind of shocked to hear that in a non-M 3-series. Or even a sedan in general. Though like someone mentioned, it does have the M at the beginning so that's all some people are familiar with.
I rarely had that in my 335 M-Sport and have never yet had it in a year of my 230 M-Sport. But in my 2010 TTS it was non-stop wannabe racers in Ford Probes and Mustangs revving at lights next to me. That car was Daytona Grey for what it is worth, 230 is Mineral Grey, and the 335 was Estoril Blue II.

I frequently get it in my 328 GT, where they clearly feel the GT means something other than a fatter arse, more boot space and an active spoiler
Just car envy. |

Well he lives in the first world doesn't he? Would you prefer he makes up some developing world problems instead?

I got challenged by a Saab today at the light.... unfortunately my car was not at operating temperature yet so I didn't race.. he thought I was and flew off the line and waved at me good bye after... lol... also in my 2013 328i people would always challenge me and race.. It's always Honda's, or BRZ's mostly lol mostly ricers

For example it is faster than the E46 M3 and E90 M3, so, while in appearance it may be understated, anyone who knows the model knows that they are quick. Also in M Sport trim, they aren't really all that understated.

You really should just go right to the Isetta badge. That'll trick them. But on topic, I have a EBII 340 w/ MPPSK and the black spoiler. It definitely draws an elevated level of annoying racers. My favorite is the giant pick-up trucks that drive like assholes to "teach me a lesson".

The M340i is as non-descript as an AMG C43 and even more "descript" than the B9 S4.
Those cars get challenged all the time...I did in my B8.5 S4. I would even have the occasional challenge from a 911. Certainly the 911 is a car with dignity. But he did not lose it by challenging my S4 nor would he by challenging an M340I. |

Its the color imo, got black 540i, never had issues, my wife has 330i G20 in white (with all m-performance parts) and some people really go aggressive, when they see the car ..

I was simply stating that the exterior design is very conservative and doesn't really look like a "racer" car or otherwise aggressive streetcar. |

By that designation the M5 Competition is not a "race car"??? Also from what I have seen, the M340I does pretty darn well on the track.

I agree, I remember before the M340i was launched a lot of journalists were sent out to portiamo race track and got to drive it... big names like the straight pipes, carwow , Schmee150 and they all were praising it for the way it handled and how fun it was to throw around on a track.... for a non M car.. it's good for what it is.. even Doug DeMuro praises it
