Spotify in BMW Apps

I’ve seen a few YouTube videos & other posts discussing a native Spotify app in the BMW connected drive, but I don’t see it in my ID7. Nor can I find it by updating my BMW apps. Is it not available in Oz, or am I missing something?

I asked about the Spotify app roughly a year ago. The BMW dealer had never heard of it. Later found out that the US get unlimited Spotify streaming as part of the Connected Drive subscription.

Built in Spotify streaming has arrived. An over-the-air update for my 2020 330. The app is under media. It arrived sometime this week.
Unlimited streaming using the cars built in SIM card.

I logged in with my premium subscription account. Works well.

I'm not sure I will use it much. I mostly stream using Apple CarPlay.

I might find that quite useful if I could actually get the software to download to my car! The last three updates have failed to load from my phone to the car. I actually use Tidal rather than Spotify as their lossless is better quality, but I wouldn't notice in the car, so could use the Spotify service there. But I'm still not paying the dealer $250 to download software that I should be getting 'free'.

The appearance of the Spotify app this week was not part of the whole car update. Though the 2023/03 update may be a prerequisite. My car was updated to 03/2023.50 weeks ago.

I activated Spotify on the car today, but it has nothing to do with software update 03/2023.50.
The Spotify app works fine through iDrive7.

For the second time I have not been able to install the 03/2023.50 update.
I can download it to my iPhone, upload it to the car, but the car refuses to install it.

Should I be happy with a 50% success rate from BMW?

I activated Spotify on mine this morning after reading so much about it and to be honest I think it sounds like trash. It’s very flat compared to when I use Spotify through CarPlay. Not really sure why, but it’s a major difference….
