320i xdrive shuddering

I own a 2021 320i X drive with 20,000 miles. Since acquiring the vehicle used a little over a month ago, I've experienced intermittent shuddering when stationary, such as when at traffic lights or in standstill traffic. You can’t feel it on the move.

Despite three visits to the dealer, the issue persists. I've independently replaced the spark plugs. Using an OBD Scanner and the Carscanner app, I've observed RPM fluctuations from around 720 RPM to 650 RPM and a sudden drop in timing advance to -10.

I’m a bit lost on what to do next. The dealer has supposedly raised a case with BMW but I haven’t heard anything back in two weeks.

What’s the best way to go forward, and potentially evidence this issue?

The red lines on the attached picture show where I could feel the vehicle shudder.

Funny you bring this up. My 2021 420i with 25000 miles does the exact same thing. It has been doing it since I took delivery. I think its just a 20i thing. Car has been fine. Running AFE intake and JB+. Have a FTP oil catch can on the way.

Same here, 35000km and I'm noticing it since I bought it. It's like when wind gust hits the car. My friend has JCW with same engine, another has 320i and both have the same issue. I guess it is rather characteristic than problem with this engine.

But I'm glad I'm not the only one.

They feel so utterly random and abrupt I just can’t see it being normal.

Some of them are quite violent and passengers have commented on them.

I’ve never felt this in any of my previous 11 vehicles

I have this on my 2023 330i as well...since day 1...I talked to the dealer and without even going on a test drive and he said it was normal.

Not sure how this feels normal, but I guess it'll be okay for now.
