I think that’s true and false. I believe SLP is doing Individual paints, but I have a pretty strong feeling the number is limited and there is a wider variety of colors that would require a German build, but I’m speculating about that. I started to make the same order an Individual paint suggestion.

My DRAVIT Grey M340i was manufactured and shipped to the US from Germany. It was because of the color choice I made which at the time was not available out of Mexico.

OP may consider to ask the dealer to order a German-built M340i base, that may be cheaper than $56k. The dealer should be ok to make the switch with the same $1k deposit.

Any post where a forum member has a meltdown because their “German” vehicle was manufactured in a developing country should be flagged as hate speech. Change my mind.

Then call it that, because that’s not the same thing as hate speech, whatever people are defining as hate speech these days.

Nothing wrong or racist about saying a product might have lower quality being manufactured in a developing country because it can be true. I would chose an X3 made in Germany over one made in Vietnam anyday and i am Vietnamese.
A few year ago, i used to work for an aerospace company here in Canada and the work that was sent to Mexico has to be redo when it came back to us because it was all trash.

Look, I learnt a long time ago, that getting into internet arguements is a losing battle. I’ll leave the two of you with two thoughts and will not respond further.

1. Here’s the definition of hate speech:
“abusive or threatening speech or writing that expresses prejudice on the basis of ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or similar grounds.” I would argue that that OP’s first post qualifies as abusive writing that expresses prejudice towards an ethnic group. It’s 2024, there is no perceivable difference in quality between any manufacturers products based solely on the country of origin. I wonder how OP would feel if German manufacturering plants starting hiring Syrian refugees to build cars? Pretty similarly I’d imagine to how he feels about his Sensatec seats being installed in Mexico by Mexicans.

2. Using the argument that “I’m Vietnamese, therefore it’s okay for me to think Vietnsmese made products are of poor quality” does not preclude you from prejudice. I’m Indian, and I can tell you right now that we have a culture of engrained classism and bigotry towards other Indians. It’s not okay.

I’ve never heard of a company that sells the same product in the same market for a different price based on where it was produced. Your bizarre anecdote about how you see more German 3 series on the road then South African ones is straight up nonsense.

I’m sorry. Where did you see that anecdote in this thread? I haven’t seen it. And who are you saying gave it? Because it certainly wasn’t me. Do you need to maybe check your reading comprehension?

The second point was directed towards OP, apologizes thought it was obvious - I know you didn’t say that.

Did they change something? I thought all 3-Series for US sales were going to be made in Mexico.

Okay. Actually, I just reread the OP’s post and he didn’t say it either. I don’t think he is/was even aware 3ers were made in South Africa.

Mexico does now offer 4 semi individual colors. Here is a screenshot showing the colors. For the M340i the 4th column is a Mexico build and the 5th column is a Munich build. This is from the Canadian ordering guide where some 3 series cars are still built in Germany. As shown in the listings Munich production starts in July and Mexico in August.

You can still order one of the full individual colors in Canada and it will be built in Munich. You can also still order Merino leather seats and the leather dash both of which are also only available for a German build.

The OP should probably move to Canada if he wants a German built 3 series.

Ah I probably is wrong about US-spec M340i still can be WBA, I think I read that Canada-spec M340i can be WBA.

The MY24 US-spec pricing guide does not have a column with July SOP for any G20, so it looks like US-spec G20 are all SLP-built these days.

Also bmwusa does not list any individual color for the 3-series.

https://www.bmwusa.com/innovations/b...!#how-to-order

So one option is to order of a Canadian-spec M340i with X1F/Z1G(Munich-built!), take delivery in Canada, and import to the US.

But the Canadian MSRPs for G20 appear to be higher than US.

I dont know whats youre on about but i merely pointing out that a product manufactured from different place can and will have discrepancy in quality. I experienced it first hand. Nobody say Mexians are inferior as a human being, but they might be less skilled due to different country have different level of education, ever thought of that, this is one of many possible reason? Tell me am racist or bigot whatever, im only pointing out fact.
