Well there's certainly a lot of precedent for that, especially if BMW continues to move the 4/X4 more upmarket and differentiated from the 3/X3. The F3x 3 did not have a merino option, but the F3x 4 did. The current X3 does not have a merino option, but the X4 does. So, as you say . . . we shall see.

Did everyone miss the details about the M340i xDrive having less HP and being slower with no mention of a turbo?
BMW USA website has it at 382 HP and 0-60 in 4.1 seconds. This press release says starting in July it will only have 374 HP and take 4.4 seconds.... am I missing something? |

Also, the quoted acceleration time is 0-100kph which is 0-62mph. That typically makes a difference of 1-2 tenths of a second, so the figure makes sense. |

In continuing updates to the trim, looks like there are some M340i out in California with the 330i Shadowline black grille (and black mirrorcaps? hard to tell in picture)
Have yet to see in person and doesn't appear to be an option on bmwusa.com builder, but the window sticker says it's a $225 option. https://www.crevierbmw.com/detail-20...-18916114.html |

When I ordered my '07 335i for Euro delivery, I dithered around for a few months, and up-popped another color and a couple of minor upgrades I don't remember, but I was very glad I waited.
I turned in my '16 340i the end of Feb. and have been debating about waiting to order the new 340M. That's looking like a smart move; of course it doesn't hurt that I'm loving my 'interim' daily driver, a '14 Cayman S. |
