Does anyone know if this feature can be coded or has the hardware changed on more recent builds? |

Spent some time on the phone to BMW this morning trying to get an official update as to what the latest software version number is.
After being bounced from Connected Drive to Customer Services and back, I still didn't get any answer other than: "Different cars will have different software versions." "Yours will get an over the air update." "Try checking for updates from the car." "Call us back in a couple of weeks and we may have more information." |

As I mentioned in my previous post, iDrive update 07/2019.55 was hot off the press last Monday 30th September. I was supposed to have 07/2019.53 but it got updated within a few days so I got a newer version applied.

Did you get any release notes to indicate what has changed/been fixed?

Overall (silly?) question on this subject by a newbie. Is there any source of a definitive list of all these software releases (07.2019.xx) detailing which G20 models they apply to and what each contains? Reading many posts on here it seems like there are so many varieties (eg 28, 30, 39, 47, 60, 63 etc) but no clarity on which applies to what. My dealer has no info on this subject at all. I can see no signs of any OTA availability yet. My release fresh(?) from the factory is .28 and both the car and my Connected App tell me there is no upgrade available. Surely at least one of those later numbers might apply to me? I believe I have a July built 320i.

Initially rang Connected Drive who said that I needed to speak to BMW customer service. They transferred me through and I was then told it was a Connected Drive issue, so I was transferred back again. In the end, I got the impression they haven't got a clue. I was told they have had several customers asking similar questions and maybe if I rang back in a couple of weeks they may have more information. |

So mine is into my local dealer on Tuesday for the brake fluid fault. The key diagnostic indicated an upgrade is available (despite the car only being 2.5 weeks old). Mine is currently on .40. I will enquire on the versions and release notes and see if they know anything.

I believe that there is only one iDrive 7.0 software development cycle going on that applies to all vehicles. It just depends what revision the dealer has at the time you get the update done. All the versions we have seen are progressions in time with minimal corrections each time, 07/2019.55 being the latest when I got my update done. Could well have moved on since then to .60, .61 or whatever.
The guys at the dealerships really don't understand this stuff and just plug your vehicle in and get whatever BMW Maintenance Servers offer for your vehicle at that moment in time. Unfortunately, BMW Customer Services are none the wiser and you end up getting passed backwards and forwards between BMW and the Dealerships. Not a great arrangement! I have been asking for a contact much closer to the inner workings of BMW but that is unlikely to be offered. |

I picked up my new 320 MSport just 3 weeks ago, brand new from dealer. Car is running 11/2018 software! I was told if car left factory before Feb 2019 then it was normal to run this version, no remote update available. Car is booked in for update on Tuesday. Can someone let me know the main differences between these 2 versions so I know what to look for? Ta!

From experience, I wouldn’t trust anything they say as they seem to know very little. The .xx is incremental and has numerically increased over the past weeks if you see from forum posts over time. If you go for an update now, you will get the latest incremental number. I guess it will however depend on whether you have iDrive 6.0 or iDrive 7.0.

My car has been to the dealer. It required 79 updates!
It is now on 07/2019.55 I don't have Spotify option or the assisted driving view for whatever reason.

I got 07/2019.55 recently and didn't have Enhances Assisted View either. I think it's because vehicles built July onwards may have different hardware and the Enhanced Assisted View will only work with that. It's a shame because we have paid for the Assisted Driving Option and it appears to have evolved already!

Well. My update disappeared from the car. I’m back on 03/19 and the app says I have no updates. Utterly shite.
Looking at other threads, it’s happened to others as well. I’d like my Audi back please |

I contacted connected drive regarding the fact that I’ve had no OTA software updates since taking delivery of the car in September.
Following their e-mail response I’ve since booked my car in for tomorrow 17/2 and have been assured the software update will be done free of charge. However the fact that the response states that they don’t know when OTA will be fixed is concerning. This was the response. “In relation to the OTA Software Updates, as your vehicle has iDrive 7 this means that this is available for your car. When a new update is available for your car a message will appear on your vehicle iDrive prompting you to begin the update. However currently there is a known issue with this which is currently being worked on, where the updates are not being received in vehicles. At this time we are advising customers to have this updated at their nearest BMW Centers for now, as there currently isn’t a time frame for when this will be resolved.”
