Comfort Access inconsistent
Not sure if anyone has this issue but my comfort access locking feature is inconsistent. Maybe once a week my car won't lock or unlock when I walk away or approach the car. Rarely does it persist but I try to reset it by turning off/on the comfort access. Anyone else running into this issue? I never trust the car to lock itself so I'm always listening to it beep after walking a few feet away.

Same problem.
Not only with auto locking/unlocking, but also with the vehicle unlocking when you touch the door handle. For being one of BMWs flagship tech vehicles, this car is riddled with bugs.

Same here, but I observed that the car/key combination gets confused once you press the lock/unlock button or when you leave your car for 2 days and return. Seems like some built in functionality, but I do not understand it for 100%. What I do know is that the key fob is not broadcasting the signal all the time, but only when you are on the move with the key. Key goes in ‘sleep’ mode when it lays down on a table for couple of minutes. This prevents hackers of copying the key signal. Maybe the key doesn’t wake up properly once in a while ...

Since last sw update in November I haven’t had issues yet... I think they are fixing all the issues slowly |

Same in my car too. Even when someone else closes the trunk and I walk away, it doesn’t lock the car. Btw, my car doesn’t have automatic trunk closing.

There are some rules... might explain some issues with this.
From the manual...

The comfort access on my 2020 M340 works well except when car is wet -- perhaps water affects ability to receive comfort access signal

Don’t have any issues with the doors but have the occasional issue with the wave foot under boot to open thing. Can be stood next to the car, wave foot, nothing, push button, opens, wave foot in same place, boot closes. Tends to happen if not used car for a few hours but is really annoying, especially when hands full of shopping!

Mine worked mostly, but since the software update to 2019/11 my rear sensors don't work at all after the car sits for a long period. As soon as I touch the front ones the car wakes up and the rear (mostly) works fine. My boot sensor also doesn't work in those conditions

Something to pay attention to - if you have a phone with NFC and you put the key next to the phone - the car will have difficult times to detect the key when locking/unlocking.
The same applies also with comfort access. This might explain why everyone is having randomly the issues. I give you example - my Iphone 12 (with BMW digital key enabled) when put in the same pocket with the car key will in 90% of the cases not lock/unlock the car from the first try. As soon as I separate the two everything works as expected. I explain it to myself that somehow the phone's NFC functionalities are jamming the key range or confusing the module because there are 2 devices that can lock/unlock the car (phone and key). I never had this issue with my F30 LCI, but with the G21 I can reproduce the problem every time I stick the car key on the back of the iPhone. Since I owned the G21 I simply learned - phone in left pocket, car key in right pocket ...... never in the same or hold both in one hand. I know it is stupid, but .....

I have found that when my key battery gets low (before any warnings) the functions start to get a lot more inconsistent, especially for the walk-away lock feature.

.. comfort access is automatically disabled if the car has been in rest state for more than a couple of days. And if there is a 2nd key within I think 6 meters it automatically disables. Info is in the App.
Other than that, RF interference from external sources can also impact it's operation. |
