Drivetrain Malfunction and car won't start or turn over all of a sudden

Picked up a 2022 BMW M340i with 25k miles a week ago today and all of a sudden this afternoon, I was going to pick up lunch and went to turn on the car, it turned on but struggled and was struggling, Drivetrain Malfunction came on and turned off the car. Tried turning it back on and car wouldn't turn over.

Only thing that I can tell you is I purchased the Remote Engine Start from the BMW App, and downloaded to the car. Car was actually at the dealer just yesterday for Service and everything looked great. Anyone ever have a problem like this? Luckily under warranty, but I'd be lying if I said I'm not disappointed. Also glad that this didn't happen during the drive back home from the dealer I picked it up from (long 10 hr ride)

It's hard to know without more details. I suggest asking the SA for what code it was. The one time I had a drivetrain malfunction and brought it in, the SA barely looked it over, and it resulted me coming in the second time for a much larger repair under warranty. We just need more details. It could be fine...

Yeah I should have put a scanner on it before dropping it off. It's there now, hopefully will know more in little bit

It ended up being the fuel pump

Glad it was solved, but I’m sure a PITA. Pretty early for a fuel pump to go isn’t it?

Yeah pretty strange. I got warranty for two more years on it thankfully. Car has been great since, been driving it everyday

I had the exact same thing happen. It wouldn't start then got an error, but I can't remember what error it showed on the dash. Car was essentially bricked. Because I couldn't start it I could not even get it in neutral to push it. Had to get a special tow truck that put each four wheels on a dolley and then on that they pushed it out onto the street and towed the car on a flat bed.

It's so ridiculous you cannot easily put the car in neutral.

Fixed under warranty. Replaced fuel pump and controller.

It's super weird with those differences regarding the Neutral.

I can easily put my car in Neutral when in diagnostics mode.

Is it a US thing?

I think the big problem is that tow truck drivers in general don't know how to enter diagnostics mode. Understandable since that probably is brand specific.

I got a case of "Drivetrain malfunction" CEL two months ago, I went off by itself while I was consulting with the dealer over it. They checked the car and stated it is a SW bug, nothing to worry about. Let's see

Makes NO difference, if engine isn't running, no way to get it into N, no way. I have tried everything, I even have XHP and spoke with them, even they can't do it. Frustrating.

I have European version.
