Carplay sucks
I don't know when it's going to work or not work.
I'm pissed at Apple Carplay. Never worked well in my Porsche (I don't even use it in that car any more), and is intermittent in the BMW. I hate the Apple carplay folks. Put them all on an island and set the island on fire

Same here. Never an issue (wired or wireless).

It's terrible in my CRV but everything to do with its infotainment is steaming garbage. I'm only hoping my 330 on order will be fine.
The only other experience I've had with ACP was on a Jeep Compass that I rented. In fact that was probably the best thing about the vehicle -- worked pretty much flawlessly and was snappy to use.

Yeah works fine in my car. The only time I get a hiccup is when my wife and I switch cars. Then sometimes it connects to my wife's phone on start up and I have to fiddle around for it to connect to my phone. I wish BMW would save the last mobile device connection to the driver profile.

Mine is okay for the most part too. Occasionally I’ll get an issue where it will freeze when I’m listening to music. The music still plays, but the screen gets frozen and doesn’t change the song names/art work.

Only issue I've ever experienced is wireless CarPlay will disconnect when there's other wireless signal interference. There is this one spot on my commute through downtown where CarPlay always cuts out. I'm assuming there must be some strong wifi signals in that particular area. But it automatically reconnects after 30 secs. Other then that wireless CarPlay works flawlessly for me.

It just cuts out a lot. Or the phone part works, but another part won't (texting)
Irritating. Put them all on an island and set it ablaze (still my preferred solution)

Generally works ok for me, but when it goes tits up it's a real pain.
Quite conveniently did it today. This am, it would show as connected, phone audio through speakers, Siri reading my messages, but would it play any music? Hell no. An idrive reset later, it connected back fine…played some random track that was on my phone, when I went into the music menu to select the music I wanted, no sound through speakers but was playing the track as the time was moving along. This evening, tried to delete phone, reconnect it, another idrive reset and lost all sound. Not even phone calls working. The 4 / 5 days a year that it fucks about it really does my head in. Today is one of them |

In my car, carplay is working fine.
However, the Bimmer Code can no longer read the head unit. It seems that you can read it with E-Sys. Probably because the FSC code was not valid. |

CarPlay still sucks.
Deactivates almost every time I drive. I loathe it. They all deserve to be put in an island and torched. Best solution ever! |

My Car Play works well. On very rare occasions it will cut out for moments, but reconnects flawlessly. As others report, it's probably due to WiFi interference. I had one occasion when the car display said it was connected but I could only get audio on the phone, not over the car speakers. I think I rebooted the phone and all was well.
I wonder if wired Car Play is less finicky. Tupper- perhaps you live in an area with more than normal wireless interference. |

I LOVE Carplay, but WIRED!!!!!! Coming from Hondas/Acuras it was so easy to just connect the wire and you're good to go.
This Wireless thing is crap. Sometimes connects perfectly, Sometimes I sit there 5 mins to get it going. Maybe it's the fact I have a XS max. Wife has 13 pro max and says she only had an issue once. |

When I've rented a car that has Car Play, I just plug my phone in using the wire I brought with me, and I'm up and running. That wouldn't be quite as easy if the rental car required a wireless connection. I'm not sure why car makers like BMW went for wireless. |
