3 weeks into my M340i!

Good day all! Always been a lurker here. Have had the pleasure of my last three vehicles being BMW, 1 used 2006 530XI wagon and one new 2014 BMW 328i that I still have. This is my first time buying an upper model, So far it has been amazing!

Options:
Tanzanite Blue
Cognac Vernasca Leather
Executive Package
Cooling and tire performance package
Shadow line trim
Driver assistance pro and basic
Parking assistance package
Adaptive M suspension
Wireless charging
Harmon Kardon

Interior: Extremely comfortable car! The materials and seating position combined with the thick steering wheel feels like a huge step up from my 2014! The infotainment i am still getting used to, loved the HUD and ambient lighting

Exterior: Absolutely love the styling, is aggressive and tamed at the same time. Love the wheels and lines throughout the car. I can stare at it all day. Currently have the winter 796M wheels on it, wish I could get them in 19’s

So far I only have about 1500KM on it, haven’t pushed it hard, the engine seems eager though. When is a good time to floor it? I am currently in Germany so I can’t wait honestly!

Not a fan of the Apple car play and hotspot. Don’t have WiFi on my vehicle and don’t see how I can just have my car use cellular data? I love listening to stuff on YouTube that I can’t do right now on my work trips due to no data. Super annoying.

The rest has been a pleasure, the car will age well. Don’t see me selling it anytime soon 🙌🏽

Congratulations! Beautiful car. I envy you because you have the ability to take it on the Autobahn anytime you want!! What I would give to drive the M340i there. Last time I was in Germany a couple of years ago I rented an M140i and it was a blast. I can only imagine how fun the M340i would be!

It's funny; when I was putting my order together for my M340, Tanzanite Blue wasn't my first color choice, but as you, I have been elated both with exterior & interior colors and, most importantly, with the car!

Also yes agreed the constant "turn on wifi to use carplay" even when plugged in is super frustrating and annoying and I haven't gotten the hang of making it just use bluetooth - if I can get the bluetooth working for music then it doesn't connect for phone calls or vice versa, etc.

I have an iPhone 12 mini and have been on an unlimited everything plan for well over 10 years so I never use WiFi and have it completely off all the time. I don't like it constantly searching for new networks to join and popping up "select a network" and such. Just stay on cell signal that's why I pay for unlimited. Similarly it tells me I need to have Siri enabled, which is another feature I don't use and have disabled. But then if I have it plugged in and try to enable wifi for carplay as it suggests, it gives me the error message "Disconnect CarPlay? Enabling Wi-Fi will end CarPlay."

....well, which fucking one is it? Enable WiFi or disable to use carplay? And then either one, once it's enabled and shows carplay as the audio source, when I go into the BMW menu to select carplay it just gives me an error and says cancel out. Can't do anything with it and still have to control everything via my phone.

I'm scheduling a Genius appointment but it's NOT intuitive, IF it even works at all. And for fuck's sake I work in tech, I was a software engineer at NASA in a previous role. I'm not some 80 year old fuddy-duddy who doesn't understand technology. I grew up with this stuff and remember when the idrive system first came out.

NorCalAthlete, I realize this is a car forum, but you can disable those pop ups asking you to connect to WiFi under the WiFi settings on your phone. Just turn off the “ask to join networks” setting, and those will go away.

1,200 miles is the generally held break in period, though technically BMW says no break in is required.
