Is the purchase of the 330e a private purchase then? Could you not have gone for it as a company car?
If it is a company car is there a penalty for exceeding £40k?

Yeah, it is some spin on a company card deal! If it had exceeded the £40k mark there are penalties. I cannot remember the exact figures!

Oh OK, so penalties for your specific company. Not related to the general BIK tax rates etc. Had me worried there......

You pay extra road tax if the car costs more than £40k. I think it's about £300/year for years 2 onwards.

Dumb question

If the battery is depleted I assume that the car can only use the ICE and fuel economy would suffer?

Exactly. However regen braking etc over a journey will eek out a few more miles electric range.

I don't understand this comment, why does going over £40k matter? Do you mean it ups the road tax? Mine is being delivered on the 2nd January. Msport with sun protection glass which pushed it over £40k. It's a company car, hoping I haven't missed something?

So I can charge at home, I have a 122 mile commute once a week, on a Monday then don’t really use the car and can charge it before heading home, another 122 miles, at the end of the week. If I go for the 330e I save a big chunk on the BIK but what’s my economy likely to look like, I have a demo to try in the first week of Jan but a guess would be helpful.

I would guess you'd see 50mpg. I'm getting high 60s doing a 75 mile commute.

I've just driven mine to Poland and despite cruising on autobahn at 100+ I've still averaged 35+mpg for the whole journey.

A 320d might average more, but nowhere near enough to make up for the BIK tax benefits, not to mention the fact that the 330e is a way nicer car to drive than any 4 pot diesel.

I would reckon mid 50s as I did a round trip on Thursday and returned 56mpg with a charge before I left home and covered 125 miles

I did a round trip of 220 miles to get my Lad from Swansea Uni and averaged 45mpg on one charge using Hybrid eco for the most part on the Motorway then 15 miles on the way back on some B roads in “Scalded Cat” Sport mode
