WiFi connection?
Hi all,
Received my new 330e about 2 weeks ago and I’m over the moon with it! I’ve got my phone connected to car via WiFi for apple car play but my phone won’t play what’s in the music library? I think it may because the phone is connected to the car via WiFi but which I have not purchased a data package for so the phone cannot retrieve the songs not stored on the phone? If this is the case how will google maps guidance work on the phone if I decided to use this?? Is there something simple I’m not doing or missing? |

Apple car play is free and no longer a subscription service on the car.
It works using two things: 1. Bluetooth to connect to the car. 2. Wi-Fi for the audio. Are you Bluetooth paired? Has the car been updated? |

Thanks for your response.
I’ll check but I though I was Bluetooth & WiFi connected. Should the software update be required as its only 2 weeks old? |

I'd check from the iDrive if you have the latest version. It's worth a shot. It's also worth updating your iPhone software if you don't have the latest version. Another thing to mention if I recall correctly is, the volume on your phone needs to be turned up. Use your phones volume controls and see if that helps.

For me, to get the car to use my phones data I had to click on the phone in connected devices, and ensure, under the apps heading, click allow connections.
Also in mobile devices, on the right hand side, click on settings, and make sure all Bluetooth,Wi-Fi and internet use are all checked. I use a iPhones and car play works brilliantly like this. I didn’t have these settings before and It just didn’t want to use the phone connection at all. |

This sounds like the solution, I’ll give this a try later.
The phone is connecting to the car no issues and CarPlay is working but the phone won’t download songs from the iTunes library. I get the same when the phone connects to my printer at home, because there is no data it but it’s connected it stops the phone going online at all. |

Getting wifi and bluetooth connected at the same time is the key I think. i changed phones and had a real issue getting the new one to do both. I had to reset everything and start again to get it to work in the end.
I am amazed by how quick it connects when I enter the car. The engine starts and Carplay is on immediately. |
