New 320d

I’m awaiting delivery of my new 320d msport just wondered how long delivery would normally take my fleet manager won’t give me order details annoyingly. It was ordered on the 20th November!

My 330e M sport was ordered 25th November. Expected delivery date 5th June - but I think this has already slipped!,

Wow I was hoping for more like end of Feb!! The lease company I currently use are saying 11-12 weeks I know the 330e is in high demand will this affect production of the 320d?

My 330e was ordered with our fleet company in July and delivered in September.

That’s seems more positive! Our fleet manager won’t give me any details and it’s being ordered through vwsfleet not sure if that will make any difference. I’ve been waiting since June for it to be ordered but we switched lease companies at just the wrong time!

Yeah, I think a few people got wind of the 330e and ordered early and deliveries were "normal". Waiting lists are now 6 months I think. Turned up at the office last week and out of our 6 charge bays 4 of them were already occupied by 330e's. One F30 and 3 G20's. This was 8am!? Doh... Would have thought a 320d would be normal 2-3 months.

That does make sense with the new tax implications. Fingers crossed the wait is reduced for the 320D. Surely it’s made in the same location so it would be a longer wait for all new 3 series or am I wrong in thinking that?

Yes Tricky is right I was actually waiting for the Mercedes C300de to arrive and then saw the releases about the 330e and ordered as soon as I could so was fortunate to get it so quickly. Very pleased with it

I wonder if RHD production of diesels has been ramped back with the BIK changes looming?

If yours isn’t due before 6th April, you may want to find a way out of it!

Potentially although it seems as though some lease companies have plenty of stock. Normally if demand is higher lead times are longer? Just a waiting game now I guess and pray it comes before April! I don’t think my company have even realised the tax implications going forward

I guess there is stock of standard cars in common colours with no options. Eg. Msport in Portimao blue with black leather.

If you want orange with cognac and a few options it’ll be a factory build rather than stock.

So spoke to BMW apparently any November orders won’t be processed until Jan 1st and it’s 16 weeks lead time from there so I may get stung in April with the new tax. Fantastic

320D is going to hammer you on tax - was the 330e not an option?

It was ordered before I realised, it’s basically the car managers get when they achieve a certain threshold. Would it be worth speaking to my car fleet to see if it can be amended? I’ve got a one series diesel currently which is fairly good in terms of tax.

Oh yes. Unless you are constantly on motorway doing 30k miles per annum.

This sort of..

And even if you were on a motorway doing 30k miles per annum in terms of your personal tax the 330e would still work out cheaper.

I don't know what tax bracket you are in but based on 40% the extra tax to HMRC you will pay:

320D £425.00 extra for car / £240.00 if you have private fuel (£665 total PM)
330E £176.00 extra for the car / £125.00 if you have private fuel (£301 total PM)

So for me it is over £360.00 a month / £4.3k / year / £13k over 3 years saving.

Christ so I’ll be paying 675 extra tax! I claim fuel through the company think it’s 13p a mile for 2 litre and above but then pay for fuel for own usage outside of work mileage.

Would it work out cheaper for the company going for the 330e? If so they’d be interested I’m sure.

If you claim fuel through the company it's just the car you will pay extra tax on, so an extra £425.00 out of your salary in tax a month.

Most of the time it would work out cheaper for a company with a 320D i would imagine... but doubt there is that much in it.

Definitely though if you can try and get out the 320D and go for the 330e.

Cheaper tax
Faster
Better spec

Just checked it’s due for delivery late Feb early March to the dealership. Car fleet manager just checked so should be ok and miss the cut off!

That's the same for me so the numbers tally up with the post above.
It will be better for the company too, - but there's a £3k price difference on the road price between a 320D M Sport and a 330e M Sport.

Not sure on the monthly's for leasing - would think they'll be much of a muchness.

Our prices from Leaseplan have the 330e and 320d at roughly the same monthly cost. We can get an MSport+ within budget on the 320d, but not the 330e, sadly.
