Service workshop manual

Had a quick search and couldn't find anything on this.

Does anyone have one or know where to get one? I have a m'bike mech qual, but as this is my first car, I've not worked on them before but want to do it. Prefer to follow BM's rigid methods and use their overpriced parts!

So I ordered the parts and oil for the servicing.

8 Ltrs of Castrol Edge 5W-30 from Euro carparts

Oil filter and o-ring
Crush washer and a spare drain plug

Parts coming from BMW Germany at a cost of more than the parts itself...

All told, £150 thereabouts...

Whats the worst that can happen?!

What?! How much? Why?

BMW is charging about that much for the oil change.

I did another oil change myself for around £80

Ha, I know right?!

The Castrol oil (annoyingly) is served in 4 ltr bottles, so I had to get two. The postage is 25 frickin quid on the official parts, which is ridiculous!

Where are you getting your parts / oil from?

I got the MANN oil filter from eurocarparts and oil from some German Amazon account.

6x1L of Shell oil in a BMW branded bottle

BMW receipt confirms its just a Shell Helix oil.

Now I know I only really need 5L. Its 5.3L according to the manual but you never really draining it completely so after adding 5L it was at max level.

Jeez, just a warning when using AV autoparts LTD aka BMW supply uk. They have somehow sent me the wrong oil filter (not sure if the VIN was incorrectly inputted by myself or them). Its clearly the wrong filter, but they're arguing the toss with me that they've sent the right one, as 'the part number was changed and its correct for my VIN. Sorry we havent let you know about the changed part number'.

Awaiting to see how this is resolved if at all, but just an advisory...

This absolutely sucks. BMW clearly discouraging DIY maintenance. Makes you want to buy a Fiesta.

I did. The UK supplier (bmwsupply.co.uk) claimed they were coming from Germany, or more likely Austria. Either way, the right stuff eventually arrived
