The D3000 has 10.2 megapixels compared to 6.1 for the D40. The D3000 also has an 11 point autofocus compared to a 3 point autofocus for the D40. There are other less important advantages as well such as a larger LCD, faster continuous shooting, more white balance options, etc.

If you can get the D3000 for under $500 like you said in another post, I would probably opt for that instead of the D40.

lol, i didnt either. My girlfriend was with me, and she told the guy that I had found a better price online. A few seconds later it was price matched!

Lots of buttons and settings to learn now, oh boy. We are going to be snowed in this weekend, so its a great chance to just sit and learn the basics.

Thats good. I used to work at Best Buy, we price matched too, though everytime I go to the Best Buy at home (not where I worked) for both my TV and my stereo, they told me they won't price match online because too many people come in with unreliable website prices.

Congrats though, looks like they wanted to sell to you

I price matched from b&h which has a retail store too. That might have had something to do with it since it wasnt just a online store. I dont know. Im fairly certain that my girlfriend mentioned it was a retail store. And they even let me use my reward zone points on the price match which I didnt think they would.

no I mean they won't let me price match with a store that isn't in our area. I know B&H has a HUGE store in NYC, but the Best Buy here wouldn't even price match if you couldn't drive there in under an hour and physically buy it. Ghey but whatever, congrats on your purchase.

but even if you price match with B&H, you still have to pay tax, no? With B&H ordering online, you dont pay tax and free shipping. They ship hella fast too (B&H),

Yeah but I had lots of bestbuy rewardzone points which brought the price down but more importantly with the blizzard here and with the mail stopped I wouldn't have gotten it before the snow. So with tax I may have paid about the same price as getting it from b&h but got it a few days early.

And ive heard from a few people that b&h ships really fast.
