We get the M badges on the fenders in Canada (you're in Canada, haven't you noticed?).

Hi,

While I took European delivery on my US spec M340, it didn't come with fender badges.

I ended up putting a small tri-color badge with small elongated US flag on each fender

aguycalleddb ,

So your M340 came with these fender badges in Europe?

I've always liked fender badges-- that's why I added them on mine

Everywhere else in the world (other than the US) gets the fender badges.

But why???
This car has nothing to do with an M
I understand the “M Performance” logo here and there but an “///M” on trunk, fenders, wheels, steering wheel, dash, etc...too much and totally unnecessary IMO.

I think every car has too many badges (why does a "real M car" need so many ///M badges? Isn't it good enough to have it on the rear decklid? Do you need to be reminded that you have an M car on the instrument cluster, the wheels, the steering wheel, the headrests, the side vents, etc?

I was simply saying I don't mind the little fender M. It breaks up the slab side of the vehicle a tiny bit, and if I grow to not like it it's super easy to remove.

But the M car has them because they are M cars.
The M340i is not an M car, not intended to be one and very different from one (F80 or G80). So, why wouldn’t you put those badges then on every BMW or any other car for that matter??

Agree for Canada it's standard, I just don't see the need to add it on USA cars that didn't come equipped that way. Also agree on the real M cars having way too many as well. This whole M/Non M thing is merely a pissing contest for the elitist type.

I'm not saying it is an M car...BMW has decided to brand these as M Performance, thus they put the shortened "M" badges everywhere. No different from what any of the companies are doing (AMG, S/S-Line, F-Sport, etc.). I'm not going to go ripping off all of the badges because it's "not a real M car". Again, I don't see the purpose of that many badges on a "real M car", do you? You bought a car that is more track ready...why does it have to have a logo on the steering wheel, on the headrest, etc etc etc. Everyone knows it's an M car just by looking at it. How many times do you need to be reminded of what you are driving? This isn't a knock on ///M...I'm just pointing out that badges are a little out of control no matter what you drive.

Zzzzzzzzz....

M340 / M135 - 'not a proper M'
A35 / C43 'not a proper AMG'
S3 / S4 'not an RS'

Yawn. Who cares. It's all marketing.

I find the X5M and X6M far more offensive. I don't consider a vehicle the size of Blenheim Palace to be a 'true M' - but what do I know? an M car is whatever BMW says it is.

I was responding to burrcold's recent post about their existence on M cars. Prior, I made a single point against it on Non M cars. Also, I was not the OP for this thread though it's reading as such. It's not like I am continuously harping about it and even if that were the case there's no need to quote me. Just move on, live and let die...

You can “consider” whatever you wish however, both of Xs are indeed M vehicles as they are made by that division and using those parts that are not used in Mxxx vehicles.
It becomes very obvious once you extensively drive both, M3 and M340 for example...

However, that is NOT the point of this discussion. The point was adding EXTRA ///M badges on a non-M vehicle (that already has too many "Ms" on it...

I agree with you that I'd like less badges in general.
However, the M-specific steering wheel is produced for M specific car, therefore, they put the M badge on it.
Same thing is on the stick shifter that is specific to an M
and the Wheels that are specific to an M
and those side slats (not badges) that are M specific
And those grilles...
It all makes sense on an M vehicle.
Makes no sense on a non-M vehicle.

BTW, I have not seen an RS badge (equivalent of an M) on a non-RS cars from Audi.

Yes, AMG has lost themselves with their badges...
