Is the exhaust valve operation on the M340i similar to the F3x with MPPSK? They've dropped MPPSK on the G2x, but the M340i that I test drove at the dealer seems to be about the same, with the exhaust and tune included in the M Sport package.

In my F32 440i with MPPSK, I use comfort or eco pro when I'm just driving with the flow of traffic. Otherwise, the exhaust drone gets on my nerves.

(I also take it out of sport on the half mile private road I share with a few other houses. My wife says she can hear my car when I shift into hooligan mode and enter the two lane highway.)

I though all m340i have the same tune and it only comes in m sport. The exhaust system looks more like the stock exhaust on the F30 340i with one valve vs two on the mppsk exhaust.

Same here!

My daily commute is 100% Eco pro. It's only 5 minutes not freeway so no use for sport that short.
It's like having a sports car and a Prius at the push of a button.
A Prius with the push of a button? No way! If that's true, what kind of twisted person would ever consider pushing that button?

Drive Sport Mode Plus 100% of the time. It sounds way better in sport and the car handling is very tight in sport plus.

I did not buy this car to save money...saving money on gas is for people who don't earn enough money and have the scarcity mindset built into their brains.

The actual difference is only a couple thousand per year max. If $2,000/year puts you out then there is no way a BMW is the right car...I am not speaking to you just speaking in general. I would guess my opinion won't be popular but I figured its honest

2019 330i xdrive.

100% Sport Mode, unless I forget to push the button. If I wanted a Honda Insight, I would have bought one.

Love driving the car.

Comfort for most daily driving and Sport+ or Individual for fun. Not sure why I haven't used the Adaptive mode more.

But in comfort on the highway I've gotten as good as 5.1 Litres per 100 Kms (46 mpg US or 55.4 mpg UK) which I think is awesome for a car this powerful.

When I put the pedal down I watch it go past 99.9 Litres per 100 kms and then it just shows the infinity symbol! 😮 So I'm not saying this a fuel saver... it just can be when you want it to be.

Not sure if I am making a mistake and should be driving in sport mode all the time to truly enjoy the car. If that's what everyone here does it would sway me to do the same lol.
I hate the overly-assisted steering in Comfort setting.

Mine is usually set to Sport Individual, with everything but the Steering in Comfort mode. That way I can have the stiffer steering and cooler gauges of Sport mode, but the calmness and fuel economy of Comfort.

In bumper-to-bumper traffic, I use Eco Pro Individual, basically because of Auto Start-Stop

What does the "engine" setting in drive mode really change? I know it changes the exhaust sound... anything else? Throttle response?

Yes it makes the throttle response more sensitive.

In heavy commute traffic (Boston voted worst in american by most formal studies) I am in sport +. The added throttle response and light engine braking make things a little quicker to react to the cars in front of you so you can keep the gaps closed. Every gap is a weakness someone will be ready to exploit. On the highway comfort and long highway eco.

I coded my car to startup in sport individual and that's the mode I'm in 90% of the time. Only go into comfort to quite down the exhaust when I have passengers (I have the M performance Exhaust so it's super loud lol) and I sometimes go into eco pro when cruising long distances on the highway with the assisted driving on.

In sport individual I have sport steering, sport plus engine and sport transmission. I feel that sport plus hangs onto the gears too long for daily driving in NYC. Having the transmission in sport is the perfect balance of sportiness and daily drivability.

If everyone kept their gaps close properly, we wouldn’t have traffic. Don’t be part of the problem, be part of the solution.

Used to in my F30 as I hated the light comfort steering. No such problems in the G20.

Comfort mode most of the time and i'll throw the shifter in S position when i want to be more aggressive. I like to drive in eco plus also... it's kinda cool to see a car with this much performance get ~30mpg on the highway. Sport and sport plus are fun from time to time but it's been a wet winter and road conditions are not ideal for full throttle right now.

I only drove in Sport. First thing I do when I enter the car is switch to Sport. Would be nice if you could set a default setting.

If your willing to do some coding (or have someone do it for you) it's possible with a quick 10 minute change.

I have mine coded to start in Sport Individual. The added bonus is that the this means that I have start/stop disabled unless I switch back to comfort or go to eco pro.

I can afford not to worry about the price of gasoline BUT I still find your comment offensive. It is like the Mercedes slogan: "the best or nothing".

If someone can't afford to eat steak every night, does that mean that the person can't do so on occasion? So if one can't reasonably afford to drive in sport plus with single digit mpg most of the time, that doesn't mean the individual shouldn't purchase a BMW.

Everyone has different reasons for buying a particular car. Mine is the environment (hence the 530e but fully loaded) and the ability to drive in the car pool lane at any time or day.
