Hi does anyone know if there is a reason why everywhere it says no snow chains on 3 series?

On the M550i in iDrive you can select snow chains!

Just wondering if there is a reason... Coz in my place it snows 2 days a year winter tire is not used, we carry chains instead.

G20 3-Series Owner's Manual gives specific instructions for best use of Snow Chains - so I don't know where you are seeing statements about NOT using them - certainly not from BMW

For my G22 it says to only use on tire width 225 and rim sizes 18" or 17" and only on rear tires.

i see. thanks, might be a clearance issue to the arch fender with my 255/19 rear tires.

but then the 550 has 275 rears and similar clearance issues
