M340i Retrofit G80 mirrors

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to get some opinions on retrofitting G80 mirrors onto an M340, I'm currently on the fence about it. I used to feel like it should be for full Ms but now that M240 and the LCI have it I'm torn. Tacky or worth it?

My car is Black Sapphire (shadowline/black rims) if it makes a difference.

Here's the retrofit kit from ind I'm looking at:

Looks promising! Would be even better if IND had a few pictures of the unit installed for reference purposes.

The m240i got them, I'm sure the m340i LCI will have them.

There shouldn't be any difference, it's the same mirrors. Retrofit kit uses OEM G80 parts so you know the fitment will be perfect (probably why it costs so much more than other mirror caps on Amazon/eBay, but worth it if I make the decision imo)

There shouldn't be any difference, it's the same mirrors. Retrofit kit uses OEM G80 parts so you know the fitment will be perfect (probably why it costs so much more than other mirror caps on Amazon/eBay, but worth it if I make the decision imo)

Fully understand and I agree - shoot for that price you can grab you set of top shelf carbon fiber M series mirror caps, if your into CF!

Not much of a difference in those, to the regular shadowline mirrors you have.
Think I'd pass....

I voted yes as I'm considering the same retrofit for my G20. I've already obtained an OEM G80 spoiler so the mirror conversion seems like a logical addition.

The IND set includes the OEM caps and rings which will run you ~$275 separately. I have the front and rear painted reflectors from IND and the quality is great.

You could save a few bucks by sourcing the parts yourself and having them painted locally but that increases the effort and IMO the hassle.

Here is picture of my M340I with retrofit kit from IND for your reference. Color matched 100%. I love it.

Looking good! I must admit the color match mirror caps are a very nice touch. Do you by chance have any pictures from a closer perspective? Would be nice to view the mirrors from a closer vantage point.

Would've already gotten one if it wasn't hideous lol, I couldn't bear to have to look at that every day. The grills are better than the 4 series IMO but still terrible

I seriously considered buying them for my M340i but, like you, I wasn't completely wow'd by the looks. Moreover it's not my style to stick parts from another model on mine, it just feels ticky-tacky - for lack of a better word (no offense to those who have it installed.)

I voted for Yes. IMHO, it looks great and adds a bit of an aggressive touch to the overall look. It will be one of the first cosmetics mod to be done on my car once it gets here.

I wouldn't do it because people will assume you're trying to make the car an M car. The M guys already complaining about this and the Carbon roof.

Yeah this was my original though, figured bmw already did that for us with the lci and m240 so what the heck from that perspective. Decisions based more on design for me
