Side view mirror is blurry after housing was replaced
I had my drivers side mirror exchanged for cosmetic reasons and when they did the swap they used the same glass from the old mirror. It was not damaged and they told me this would be the case. The mirror glass is not scratched, bent or warped but it reflects a blurry image almost like a wave in the glass on the right half. Was not like this before. Could this be the electrochromatic fluid in the autodimming aspect of the mirror that was damaged? I swear I'm not crazy and want to know how to explain to dealer if they push back. I don't think they will but just trying to remain educated. Thank you everyone.

Perhaps they slightly scratched the surface of the mirror and polished it to have the scratch disappeared.
That happened to me in the back glass some years ago. I ask them to change the glass due to some scratches (made by someone with bad intentions). What they did was to polish the glass, when I took my car it was ok until I entered a tunnel and others’ lights on the back surface made shades and rainbows all over the glass. |
